You need to bring the statement from your mortgage company and the HUD form from your closing statement. I wasn't exactly sure what the HUD form was so I brought my entire closing statement and my accountant got what he needed.

If your homeowner taxes are not escrowed into the mortgage then bring the tax statement from your town. I would bring that anyway so your accountant has that. Also have you done any energy efficient home repairs? Some things may qualify as a deduction. For example 2 1/2 years ago we put in a new central air compressor and that qualified as an energy efficient repair that qualified for a deduction that year.

Tally up all the receipts you have from your home improvements too! This counts your first year :)
