New Job Advice Please!!!

So a couple months ago I applied for a new part time job, she took a few weeks to make a decision and hired me right before the holidays. Since the timing wasn't ideal, I'm just getting my first client next week. I will be meeting with my new boss on Monday to get the key to the office and to go over procedures. I am 21 weeks along...do I tell her I'm pregnant? I can hide it if I really want...but I don't know what I should do. It's a consulting therapist job which is VERY part time so it shouldn't be affected too bad by Maternity leave. I would most likely only take a week or two off form that job.....What does everyone think???

I would tell your boss. You got hired already and they cannot release you just because you are pregnant. Also, while it's part time if something G-d FORBID happens and you have to go to the ER or a doctor appt it's easier to tell your boss from the start then make that phone call "can't work today, have to go to the ER, I'm XX weeks pregnant, sorry I never told you." Would much rather tell then keep the secret. Would drive me CRAZY!

New Job Advice Please!!!

I would tell them and not hide it.. if they assume or find out somehow without you telling them it would be worse :(

Re: New Job Advice Please!!!

This is me too. I'm a psychologist and just started PT in a private practice. I was offered the job the week I got pregnant, although I of course didn't know it. I'm only 2 days/week and my job won't be affected too too much bc of maternity leave although I won't be able to see my patients for several weeks. Still, I'm nervous about telling them. I'm not even 12 weeks yet though.

At 21 weeks I would tell them. You and they still probably need to plan ahead. I would be very specific though about what you anticipate will happen eg how much time off you expect you will need and how you plan to manage the various aspects of your job.

I would tell them. When I interviewed for the job I am currently in it was VERY early... I don't even think I had gone for my first sono yet and I still told them. If it had worked out (which it did Chat Icon ) I didn't want them to think I had been hiding anything from them.
