New Mommy = Personal Hygenie Out the Window
I was never a primadonna make-up wearing chick, but with my 7 week old I can hardly find time to take a shower.....this weekend we are going away I really might need to see people without getting a lip and eyebrow wax!!!
I am mortified---wondering if anyone else feels this way!!

Yep, I remember those days!
Can you try to hop in the shower while DC is napping or at night when DH comes home?
I say take the baby with you to the waxing place. Just bring the infant car seat in with you and put him right next to you in the waxing room in his seat.

Ditto!! At that age I used to take DD to the manicure place, she would usually just sleep in the stroller...

I would def take a shower when DC is sleeping or just put him in the bouncer or swing.
And I would def just take him with you to the salon.

Re: New Mommy = Personal Hygenie Out the Window
I can relate--but once I became more of a seasoned mom, I learned to take a shower *before* DD even woke up. That way, I was guaranteed to have some semblance of self-esteem for the day
I am desperate for a pedicure, however. My last one was 2 weeks before DD was born, which would make it 9 weeks ago!! I WILL get one this Saturday though!!
ETA...I would be petrified to take Abby to the nail salon. It would NEVER have worked with Katherine and I'm not going to chance it this time either!

Re: New Mommy = Personal Hygenie Out the Window
God do I know how you feel. The first few weeks I swear I only brushed my teeth once.
Now I make it a point to hand DS off to DH in the evening and take a really long hot "beauty" shower with oils and lotions and razors and tweezers at LEAST once a week, if not every other day.
That way I know I'm at least partially clean and pretty.

two letters...D H
make him take over for 20 minutes to shower...and get out of the house for an hour to get whatever you need done...
Trust me, you'll feel tons better about yourself...

Re: New Mommy = Personal Hygenie Out the Window
I hear ya!
shave legs? eyebrow wax? style hair in something other than ponytail?
I showered today but DD spit up on me twice and I forgot my nursing pads, so I had milk stains on the front of my shirt.
sexy, no?

Absolutely!! I've never felt so unattractive!! :(
Maybe one of these days I'll make an appointment for a haircut, put on some makeup and maybe even get a mani/pedi!!! That would be wonderful!!!

Re: New Mommy = Personal Hygenie Out the Window
yep, its fun fun! I agree - get DH or your mom or someone to watch the baby so you can have a little beauty time if you can. Or at least a shower.
I also get up early, before i 'think' DD will wake up to shower. She is 8 mos, and I still sometimes an not sure if it will work out, depending on how she slept!
And hello, I can't remember the last time I got a haircut. Hooray for hair clips!

Re: New Mommy = Personal Hygenie Out the Window
Honestly, there were some days that I put him down- crying - to take a shower. Especially in the mornings where I have to get ready for work - I can't not shower because he is up and crying - so, after I feed him, change him, burp him, etc - I put him in his bouncy seat, put on some music, hand him a toy, and take my shower. sometimes he is crying when I come out, but he is getting used to the routine, and many times is calmly listening to the music when I come out (just regular music I have on my Ipod...)

Re: New Mommy = Personal Hygenie Out the Window
I find it quite the achievement if I get showered before noon and/or before leaving the house to run errands.
