New Moms and Working Out

Mason is over 7 weeks now and I can't find a moment to workout. We go for long walks, but I like to give him stimulation when he's awake and of course when he naps a little bit through the day I have a ton of things to get done. Anyone else have this problem who's into working out?

DH will help on weekends so I can start going to the gym again. Just during the day

during one of the naps, try to put your work out first before things around the house.
that is what i did. i did my work out first and then the chores.

I always went when DH came home from work or on the weekends when he had off.

I still have those problems and DD is almost 4 months---well I do have a 2.5 year old also though. I just bought Tony Horton's 10 minute workout program. It has 5 different 10 minute workouts---upper body, lower body, cardio, total body & yoga. I just started yesterday---did 2 of the 10 minute workouts. It's tough but quick!

I did stroller strides starting when DD was 10 weeks old, but you can start now! It is awesome!!! It is at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford and it is seriously the nicest group of women. I've made some amazing friends there that I know will be near and dear to me for a long, long time. The workout is a good one too...always sore after it. It is nice to get a workout in with DD and to have the playgroups after. Check out the website and sign up for the meetup. If you go down, tell Beth that Julianne sent you (I don't get anything for it, I just love the group). Friday is a HUGE party and Darlene Graham is playing for everyone!!!! Today was class at the beach. You should definitely come then. Ok, here's the link:

Re: New Moms and Working Out

I found i wasn't able to do much in the first couple months because the baby was up frequently for feedings etc. I was also breastfeeding/pumping which dedicated alot of energy and time for me. I rarely ever left the baby unless I had too.
I do have to say that Time Warner Cable has a wonderful Exercise Channel that I just discovered. They have 10 minute exercise programs, full body, yoga, upper body, walking videos etc...that you can do when the baby is sleeping. Its been helpful and you can do it in the privacy of your own home.

Want to add - that it is ON DEMAND - so the programs are available all the time!
