How do you know if your supply is keeping up with baby? EBF Moms
Sasha still eats every 2 hours-- sometimes more, sometimes less.
The last two nights we have given her a bottle again in the middle of the night-- she has downed first 7.5oz, then 8oz in about 7 mins.
Now, I do not think that is what she eats from me. She does not eat for long-- 7 to 10 mins on one side, but for some reason I just don't think she is getting 8 oz in a feeding.
Also, when I pump now-- especially in the morning, when I USED to get like 4 to 6oz, I am lucky if I get 3.
I am worried that I am not going to produce enough for that now 8oz bottle at night, but that's really the least of it since I want to make sure she is getting enough throughout the day.
She doesn't appear any different than normal-- and when she hasn't eaten for long and I try to get her to eat more, she usually spits up-- which sends me the message that she's had enough. But, with what I pump changing, even if she is eating more, shouldn't my supply catch up already?
Should I just try some of that milk stimulating stuff and see what happens? What does everyone recommend?

One thing I do know is that the baby is MUCH MORE efficient than any pump! They can get 7-8 oz. in a short amount of time and your pump can be getting less over longer amounts of time.
Are you pumping at the same time she is getting a bottle at night? Giving up a feeding can decrease your overall supply overtime.

this is what i was going to say. your supply used to be good in the morning b/c you were BFing her at night right? if you're not pumping or BFing at night, your body isn't getting the signals that it needs to make more milk for the morning. so your supply would go down.

Since we started with the bottle (at a week old), I never pumped in place of the feeding.. I just do it before bed, and in the morning after the first feeding. I have always done this-- and still gotten a good supply in the morning, so that shouldn't be affecting anything since there has been no change.
eta-- when I WAS feeding her in the "middle of the night" over the last couple of weeks, it was at like 4:30/5:00-- and I feed her close to that now anyway. Now, she wakes up at like 5/5:30.

I did not BF but I would assume she is not eating 8oz every two hours. It is probably because she hasnt eaten in a much longer span of time that she is eating that much from the bottle.

I do not usually BF during the night, but I am engorged in the am. If you are not really full after going a long time without nursing, try pumping right before bed -- this usually ups my supply.
