New moms, have you taken your infant to the beach yet?
How did your infant behave at the beach?
I love the beach but am afraid taking DS to the beach will be a disaster. He hates being still so I know we won't be able to relax.

I haven't, although we are going to Punta Cana next month...When I am outside with her by the pool, I have one of these that come in really handy (and it folds up for storage)

Re: New moms, have you taken your infant to the beach yet?
Its called the Fisher Price Bounce n Play Activity Dome It bounces when the baby kicks ( nothing electronic) What I really like is that it zips up and has a mesh bug net !....Its no longer available as far as I know....I've had it for quite a while ( this is the exact one I have, apparently there was a recall on the one I have, nothing serious though, so I still use it):

But e-bay has some ( looks like Australia thoug :

I love that activity dome!
We bought a pop up tent, and I plan on trying it out. Btween that, and a big umbrella, I'm hoping he'll be happy.
We'll see!!

I was just searching for this. There was a recall on it.
fisher price activety dome
They sent out replacement parts, but they are no longer sending the parts out. If you are going to buy a used one, make sure its not the model that was recalled and if it is make sure the new parts were installed.
It looks like the coolest thing, I can't believe they don't sell it anymore or something simpler.
ETA: dome recall
This site had more info on it and what to do.

Re: New moms, have you taken your infant to the beach yet?
We had a sort of test day at the beach. We went in the afternoon just for a few hours. She loved it. She played in her UV tent, we stood her by the shore and let the water run over her feet (she SCREAMED when that happened), I nursed her, and that was basically it. I think if we had stayed longer, she probably would have napped in her tent. It was a good experience, and going with the intention of only staying about 2 hours was good as a first time experience.

Took DD to the beach last week for a few hours, and she just hung out in her carseat under the umbrella.

Re: New moms, have you taken your infant to the beach yet?
I got a dome/tent - domed shape, open in the front- like a cabana. I got it at Walmart last year $15-$20. I believe its spf. I think First Steps or Step Ahead has some too (online/catalog).
Not sure how old dc is but keep them hydrated. Also baby powder works wonders for getting sand off skin.
Make sure you really check after diapering at home for sand where you don't want it - that could be a nasty diaper rash.
Worse case you pack up and go home. Its not like you'd be stranded at the beach.

Yes, mine was one of the recalled ones, but like PP said, as long as your DC is not left unattended ( which I would never do) , I feel secure with it

Re: New moms, have you taken your infant to the beach yet?
We bought a pop up tent and a big umbrella. We went a few times and he was fine. He would hang in the tent and then sit with me on my chair under an umbrella. We belong to a beach club so it makes things a bit easier. I'm able to leave all his supplies there and I can put his stroller in the cabana when he is taking a nap. We had a great time the few times that we went so far.
