New moms where do you put your newborn/ BTDT moms where did you put your newborn...

Durning the day? I feel like I have DD always in her bouncy seat or swing. I pick her up to hold her but she rather be in the bouncy or swing. I hold her and after a few short mins she fusses, put her in her bouncy she's happy. I feel like a bad mom cause she's always in these 2 things all day. She's not able to hold her head up yet so I can't even put her in her bumboo or her other toys.

When he was sleeping, I put him in the bassinet so he got used to being in that, and not being held every second. He didn't like the bouncy seat.

I would change that up with the swing.

if she can't hold her head up yet, you're doing the best you can!

If she loves it, let her be.

She can't go in a bjorn or anything yet (bc of her hips, right?)

Mostly they were in the bouncy seat too. I'd mix it up with the playmat and the swing too from time to time...but really it was mostly the bouncy. I figure...what else are you going to do with a newborn?

Both of my DD's loved the changing table. During changing, my DD's would hang out there for a long time with me playing & talking to them.

Also as a PP mentioned the playmat is great too. My DD's were never big on belly time so I would have them do it in very short increments on the play mat.

she's either in one of the following: napping in crib, in her swing, being held, in the jumperoo for a little bit, on the couch sitting for a little bit (while we hold her up)

that's pretty much her day

I held her, cradled her, laid her on my chest or on the sofa next to my thigh.

I grabbed hold of the idea you can NOT spoil your newborns!

My child was always in one form or another touching me for those first 4months.

She'd sleep against my thigh, and if she really passed out I'd put her down in her crib for a short while. It was a full time job for sure!

She'd sit/lay in my lap while I laid lengthwise on the couch, she'd lay against the back of the couch on a pile of pillows to elevate her while I say next to her.

Poor kid will never remember any of this but really she and I were practically joined at the hip.

I wouldnt eat, cook, grab a drink or move for hours on end. I only moved for myself when she slept those cat naps in the beginning. It was a mad dash for whatever sandwich or cereal i could throw together.

Heck I'd put her in her carseat and put that in front of the bathroom to tinkle!

Guess I took that "Never leave your child unattended" thing just a TAD too far!

and now....

darned kid runs to her daddy like he's a god.. right past my open arms gratitude i tell ya! LOL


ETA: Yeah like PPs have said.. play mat was cool too. We didnt have a 'jumperoo' but we did have a bouncer. I felt bad putting her in there as her lil head would loll over.

we did the bouncy, the swing, or the floor entertainer... i tried to do alot of the floor entertainer on purpose.. i wanted him to be able to find ways to entertain himself (i know he was young) but now at 13 months old he rarely wants me to play with him which makes like alot easier if i want to get things done....

i do wish i had used the crib alittle for naps early on and plan on doing so with #2 because it made implementing a nap time in the crib harder when he was older

I hold him alot. He doesn't like go go in anything for more than 3 minutes unless I'm right here interacting or playing with him. If I'm playing with him, he likes the play gym, being propped up in the boppy, on a blanket on the floor to do tummy time, or his bouncer. Once he's asleep sometimes I'll put him in the swing while he naps. He doesn't love the carriers that I've tried but I use them once in a while if he tolerates it.

You are not a bad mom, if she's happy in those things it's fine. It's not like you are leaving her in there to cry rather than holding her.

before either could pick their heads up to at least have head control, they were in the swing, bouncy, rocker or activity mat.

they only slept in their bassinet at night time.

DS used to sleep in his swing after he got out of the bassinet so when he went down for naps, it wouldnt be in that...

i dont nap them in the places where they sleep at night until they are at least a year or so old

Changing table, crib with mobile, or activity gym. We used to put the boppy in the gym too to help with tummy time (which, admittedly, she hated until she could roll over on her own).

We had a mirror that we'd put on the floor by the gym so she could turn her head to look at herself. She liked that too.

I always made it a point to go outside for a walk at least once a day, or to a mall or something to walk if it was raining. Before the weather gets too cold you can also carry her in your arms and walk around outside and point out the trees, the cars, etc. Even if she doesn't seem like she is paying attention it's still good to get out.

Don't feel bad - you found things that she likes and you keep going back to them - consistency is good too!
