new paltz...
I am thinking of heading up to new paltz on sat - has anyone spent the day there that can offer some advice. What is there to do - see? Is there good hiking? A hotel you can recommend?

I live in the town next to New Paltz and went to college in town too
~Town shops (about 20 tops)
~Lake Minnewaska for hiking
~ Historic Hugenot Street (to see old houses)
~SUNY New Paltz has an art museum
~Mohonk preserve
As for hotels...none in New Paltz itself. Only motels on Rt. 299
If you cross the bridge and go up the mountain there is Mohonk Mountain house but its a lot of $$$
I'm not aware of much more than that- its a small sleepy village (IMO)
