new puppy... question
Okay i'm new at this so please excuse me if this question is dumb.
But when you first get a puppy... you should obviously walk them on a leash, etc. But how long until you can let them go outside by themselves if you want?

Re: new puppy... question
it depends on the dog. My chihuahua will never go outside unless I decide to be a SAHM. His bladder is too tiny. My Pug learned about 6 weeks after we got him, my Shiba Inu learned about 12 weeks after we got him. You have to feel out the dog.

Re: new puppy... question
do you have a yard in which they would go outside by themselves in? if...there is a particular area that you want to them go in the yard...then stay outside and train them to go there...once you think they get it...let them out by themselves.

Re: new puppy... question
My pup is very carefree so letting him out by himself just would not happen. Plus we have bobcats, cougers and panthers in our area. So we always walk him. It's good exercise for both of us
