OK - the most TMI question ever, but I'm too embarassed to ask my dr... But I will if no one has an answer for me....
OK - I was just thinking of this because of the internal exams you get in the 3rd trimester...
when the baby starts to drop, I'm assuming the dr. can feel the head, and other baby stuff in there...
SOOOooooo... when you are having sex around this time... Can DH feel the baby....
OR - more important - can the baby feel DH????
Sorry.
Its been on my mind.

I feel bad no one has answered... I really have no idea. I would ask at the next appointment, im sure there is nothing these dr havent been asked before. It seems to be a valid question.

I asked my Dr. He said as long as there are no complications with the pregnancy- you can have sex. Baby can't feel your DH and DH and Poke the baby....

I have no idea. How "deep" does the Dr have to go in to feel the cervix & stuff?

before you go into labor your cervix should not be shortened or open at all. The baby is well behind the cervix in a sac and surrounded by fluid. I don't think he can feel the actual act but possibly your O through muscle spasms

Bc of the way my uterus is positioned, every time we would BD my husband would always feel like he is hitting something (my cervix)...when the baby gets bigger Im sure he is going to be poking it in the head LOL...no seriously...I think you'll be fine, the baby is in a sac so unless you're really going at it (which you shouldn't) I think the baby is safe...

As a PP said, your baby is buried behind your cervix, and in the amniotic sac. No, DH cannot feel the baby, the baby cannot "see" DH (this was one of my fears as irrational as it sounds when I was PG with my 1st).
Your doctor is able to feel the head based on pressure around your cervix.
NOTHING is TMI on this board!

No the baby can't feel DH or vice versa.
We DTD the day before I went into labor and everything was fine.

i needed this laugh liza, thanks.
DH worries that when I "poke" the baby through my belly i am hurting it...god forbid he read this and fear sex will also.
on another note: if you are so worried, how long is his....nevermind.

I'm laughing at the PP- how long is his... nevermind! Classic!
As everyone else has stated, your DH can't break through your cervix .. and if your cervix is open and he *could* you'd be in labor and you're not going to be in the mood or able -----

I have absolutely no idea why I know this but I have heard that it's impossible for the man to reach the baby's head, unless that child is waaaay down low....

Thanks ladies... its just that ever since I had my internal, it made me think - wow - this is no different than what I did with Jhnny so and so behind the gym when I was 14.... And if she is feeling something with just her fingers, then.... well, lets just say DH is a little more endowed than a finger or two!
Ladies, its been a looooooong week. My brain cells are starting to melt away... please forgive me....

BTW - there must be over 200 people who clicked on this, read it, and didn't respond... that means they probably shook their heads in disbelief and said to themselves... wow, this woman is going to be someone's mother...
Click....

Responding so you don't think I'm shaking my head.
I agree - baby is safe behind the cervix, not near um...the fun stuff. I agree about probably feeling the "O" contractions but in the end, the endomorphins released during "O" are good for both of you.
and I think Johnny behind the gym wasn't trying to check your cervix or dialation. He probably had no idea what he was going to find.

I think you will be fine. We all question this at some point or the other. My DH would like to think he will be the first to accomplish this-ewwwww lol

Imagine if he did find someone poking back at him? I could have traumatized him forever....

Lurker here to say this is the real reason that some babies are born with odd shaped heads or with little dents in their heads. Seriously, I think you're fine.

Re: OK - the most TMI question ever, but I'm too embarassed to ask my dr... But I will if no one has an answer for me....
I have an answer . During my 9th month - one night, we BD'd and DH said, ummm this feels weird and I at that point wanted to give birth so I said, it's okay don't worry. He said I feel like I'm hitting a bone. And DH is average, not trying to flatter him :). So the next weekly appt I brought it up to Dr. Hanauer and she said "Honey that was a bone he was hitting - that bone was her skull - she is very low". I could not believe it and was sooooooo grossed out. Needless to say, DH said you will have to find another way to go into labor - you are cut off.
ETA: DD had no dents and had a perfectly shaped marble head
