New Rules about building up?
Anyone here of new laws/rules passed in regard to building up or extending homes?
My MIL brought up a conversation she had with a neighbor while looking at a three family building that is going up on her block. The neighbor mentioned how lucky the guy got because right after he got his permit they passed some law about not being able to build up anymore.
DH and I think that 1 - this applies to NYC and 2 - it's probably in regard to multiple dwellings. Either way we know we have to find out with the town but I wanted to check here to see if anyone knew anything about this.
Thanks!!!

Re: New Rules about building up?
We just checked with Islip town because we are considering building up. They told us the rules for our town (has to be less than three stories and can't be higher than 35 feet). If you don't fit in the rules, you have to apply for a variance, which they can approve or deny.
