Great post ( ).
See, I'm a traditional mama-to-be, so I went with a traditional nursery like set. I'm not into the modern nursery styles. I like pastels, I like a baby's room to look and feel like a baby's room.
So far, our nursery is done. YIPPY! I will take pics after DH puts away all the Christmas boxes in the middle of the room.

Re: new topics...LETS TALK....(and you better reply to this!
We're in a one bdrm apt so no nursery. For this reason I wanted the crib bedding to match our bedroom decor. I'm also not into the nursery characters and real "baby" decor to begin with, but with our bedroom being a mix of different browns, the crib bedding we chose is brown, tan, navy and a brick red color.
I'm already not happy with it though I decided, because although it's not too babyish (it's a sports theme) I'd rather it still be more plain. Like just some stripes or piping, something along those lines, in dark brown, white/cream, maybe some green or navy. I don't like pastels so although there's lots of brown bedding out there most of it is too light and it's with baby blue. I don't like baby blue. So now my shower invites go out next week and I still am not happy with my bedding choice.

i agree with this. i'm not big on pastels, etc. but i love COLOR and interesting designs, etc. the baby's room isn't going to look like a traditional baby's room, but it will be very "us."
that being said, i don't have a baby's room yet. we live in a one bedroom and our lease doesn't expired until the baby will be about 6 months old. so unless we find some amazing buy before then, baby will be sleeping with us until the 6 month mark and move. it's kinda killing me actually, i always wanted to really spend time and decorate my kid's nursery, which i guess will happen eventually, but it doesn't feel the same...

I am getting b/c I don't like anything cheesy and 'babyish' - it's just not my style - I don't care what anyone else does in their home for their baby, but this one is MINE !!! And I think I should get to do it MY way w/o the annoying opinions about what other people think I 'should' do
i don't like themes, I don't like animals, or characters or trucks or cars or whatever - The room is already a great color blue, so I am thinking of doing 2 walls in a stripe (Just add a thick white stripe and thinner navy stripe) I was throwing around the idea of yellow, but it would have to be a bright nautical yellow, not a babyish yellow ....
I am going to have old photographs of Baby K's Great Grandpas put on canvas and hung on the walls (the solid blue walls........) And I saw very plain striped bedding I liked in Pottery Barn . - Have to now pick out furniture - Prob a very dark ir not black wood -

Great topic!!! I guess we went a bit traditional. We did blue walls (baby blue) and cherry wood furniture.
The baby's bedding looks like this: (when we have a girl, obviously this will all change!)

Re: new topics...LETS TALK....(and you better reply to this!
We went kinda in the middle. I don't love the super babyish stuff like Pooh, but I also don't love when the baby's room looks like a regular room adults would be lounging around in. So this is our bedding:
As far as stuff we have done...We're a bit behind what our schedule was, but we're still ok. The office still isn't emptied in order to BECOME the nursery. But we're almost there. Next week an electrician is putting in an overhead light and fan. Then DH will paint at some point in December. Our furniture has arrived and is being held until the beginning of January. Then my shower is the end of January, at which point I'll start setting up the room and decorating more.

Re: new topics...LETS TALK....(and you better reply to this!
We actually finished our nursery this past weekend, I'll take pics today and post them. Its a temporary nursery because we could only fit one crib in this room, so the babies will share for a few months while we get the "real' nursery ready. The room is not very babyish, and when we do the other room we will decorate the same way.
I personally do not like a lot of characters, but everyone has different tastes.

we went with espresso wood...annd LOVE it...i am not a fan of light wood or white cribs...again this is just my opinion...anyone is entitled to have a hotpink and polkadot crib if thats what THEY want....first of all white or light wood wouldnt go with any of our furniture..our whole bedroom..dining room and living room furniture sets are all dark dark cherry..it almost looks chocolate...i am not a fan of the animal theme either but the NOJO jungle tales is actually not tht bad....Rob never says much of anything about really wanting something ;he is pretty good about just goinng with the flow aka my flow so when he really really liked this set i knew it meant alot to him...

another question....our nursery isn't a really big room but our bedroom is....and tey are literally 10 feet away from each other....im thinking about putting changing table in our room and just cribs in theirs.....this way the room isnt taken over by furniture....and they will be sleeping with us i am sure for the first few months...weeks at least so having changiing station near will be helpful...anyone else putting a changing table int heir room??

ITA. I hate Baby-ish stuff. Try finding it, damn near impossible. I did however find some at BRU. I also am not a fan of any baby characters, put "no characters please" on my registry....Lets just say I have heard it is "very rude, to tell people what to buy" My little man will have a Rock Star room, when we move. With some drums in it so he can play with daddy!!! Pics in Album of his none baby-ish bedding.

Even though I am having a , I decided to go with something gender neutral for the nursery.
I will have dark espresso furniture with it.

I agree with you, I"m sooo anti characters and animals and things, I think it's easier for girls to shy away from that, with boys thats mainly what I see...I think pbkids has some cute things..see my album, i have a very girly girly girly room with some quirky elements...

This is what we did for my DD's nursery, this was when we had no idea if she was a girl or boy. I LOVED it and kept all the bedding and accessories for #2. We're in a new house, but I painted her room the same colors, so we'll just end up moving DD to a new room, giving her all new decor, and doing this again for the new baby. Image Attachment(s):

This is DS' nursery now. While pregnant with him, we didn't find out the sex. We won't be finding out this time either. Baby will be going in this nursery and DS will move into a "Big Boy Room".

Re: new topics...LETS TALK....(and you better reply to this!
my dc will be sharing a room, probable when this baby is about 5m old.. depending on how my dd is then. As of now leaving nursery as is.. its pink with kidlines bedding and curtains. The curtains have butterflys on them and so does the bedskirt, the rug matches a bit of color in those. Im not big on the character theme rooms, so we went more for a pretty baby girl theme I guess.
If this baby is a girl we will leave nursery the same.. if boy we will paint half the room probable i nice shade of blue to match the rug and then just change the curtains.. this way he will have his side of room and dd will have her side.. until we get a house.

I am having a boy and was having a hard time deciding between a sports theme or animals. I decided to go with the more babyish look and save the sports for when the room becomes a toddler room.

I don't want any characters in our nursery as well. My mom is actually making out bedding because we wanted something neutral and we didn't love anything we found in the stores. We did find two fabrics that we love. I do not have any pictures yet but the nursery will be a mix of light blue, brown, cream and tan.
