newbie at the gym and i'm clueless!!!
I joined the gym at the beginning of January and am looking for ideas on what i should be doing while I'm there. I'm a complete newbie to both the gym and exercise as a whole. I've mostly just been walking on the treadmill to start, and building up my speed, distance, and incline. But I don't want to get bored. I've tried the elliptical and literally could only do it a few minutes because i'm that out of shape. Any other tips on what I should be doing? My goal is to both lose weight and be more fit overall. Thank you!

Making an appt with a personal trainer really helped me. With my gym, they offer a free intro session. She set me up with goals, showed me various machines and how to use them, talked to me about which classes would be a good fit... So helpful, and took away that scared feeling i had.

I agree with a personal trainer. They can be pricey but they are worth it. You will get so many ideas and learn exactly how to use the gym equipment.

Re: newbie at the gym and i'm clueless!!!
i do about 4-6 miles on the bike (20-30 mins)
then i lift (machines) either upper, lower or core depending on day
then back to the treadmill to walk for about 10 mins to cool down!
i bet your gym has a personal trainer and they usually offer 1 free "training" session with the trainer OR ask! Someone will show you how to use everything or suggest a regimen. Most machines also have a sticker that show you which muscles or muscle groups are being worked and how to use the machines
