newborn diapers - how long did your LO wear them?
Hi Ladies,
New here - LO is 6 days old today and seems to be peeing through diapers already. He is 7lbs 3oz as of Monday. At first DH and I thought it was due to his circumcision bc we had gauze covering but I'm thinking we need to move up to size 1 now? Is it normal that he was only in the newborn size for a week? We have so many diapers in this size so I guess we felt compelled to use them and not let them go to waste.
Thx!!

Probalby about a month- but only because we ran out of the newborns and didn't want to buy more newborn sized diapers- we had a ton of size 1's from the hospital and that we got as gifts. She coudl have still fit in them- she was tiny! She is just now transitioning to size 2 at 5 months old!

A week is alittle short, but if he's peeing through the diaper save yourself alot of time and aggrivation and move to size 1.

OK thanks for the guidelines - I'm not entirely sure he's peeing through them because he's outgrowing the size or because the gauze covering his circumcision is redirecting his pee out of the diaper. A week seemed a bit too soon to me too!

Re: newborn diapers - how long did your LO wear them?
My DS is a month today and we just finished all the newborn diapers yesterday. We used some size 1's as well. He was born 6 pounds 12 ounces and was down to 6 pounds 2 ounces when we left the hospital. He constantly peed out of the newborn diapers with the size 1's he doesn't leak out as much at all.

Neither of my children ever wore newborn diapers. They were both big - 9.2lbs and 8.1lbs and they both have butts!
They both moved up to the next size diapers before they reached the weight minimum - I just noticed this today bc is 20lbs and he's wearing size 4 diapers that say for 22lbs to whatever..

DS was 7lbs 14oz and never wore NB. The hospital put size 1 on him, so I continued it.

Re: newborn diapers - how long did your LO wear them?
Are you putting ALOT of vaseline on? That is what we did and that makes the pee leak out bc it has nothing to absorb into.

Yes! We are globbing it on because that's what the nurse said to do. OK, that makes me think it is definitely the vaseline/circumcision and not that he is already outgrowing newborn size. We got so many as gifts that I'd hate to let them go to waste.
