How much fromula is your newborn taking a day? DD is 3 weeks old today and she takes about 24 oz per day - is this in the normal range?

TIA!

Re: newborn formula question

Thanks! Looks like she is right on target!

Does anyone else's 3 week old eat 4 oz every 3.5 - 4 hours rather than 2 oz every 2 hours?

Yes mine did after I stopped BF'ing. That is great that she is on that schedule already!

Re: newborn formula question

DS is only 2 weeks old and he eats 3-4 oz. every 3-4 hrs. My dr said it was ok. You cannot overfeed a baby and to feed on demand.

Re: newborn formula question

My DD is almost three weeks old and eats about 3 oz. on average. sometimes she eats only 2 oz...sometimes 4 oz.)She tends to cluster feed at night (an ounce every hour or so) but at this age, you need to feed them when they are hungry and they will eat until full.

FYI: elaina is 19 days old today and weighted 6lbs. 12 oz. at birth....when we brought her home she was 6lbs. 9 oz.....at her last Dr. visit at 2 1/2 weeks she was 8lbs.
