Newborn in crib
sorry for the million questions...can you tell that I'm starting to think about my registry, LOL?
Did anyone put their newborn straight into the crib? If so, did you use a sleep positioner or something?
I really don't have the room in my bedroom for a basinette or something, it would be REAL tight. And, the baby's crip will only be a couple of feet away in the nursery. Can you absolutely NOT put an infant in a crib? Or do people use the basinette/cosleeper for convenience?

I put both my children right into the crib from day 1. They were always fine in there.. good sleepers.

Re: Newborn in crib
People use bassinets for the convenience of having them close by for middle of the night feedings, etc. Sometimes a newborn won't sleep well in a crib because of the "openess" of the crib. If you see what they do in the hospital, they have rolled up blankets on the baby's side to give it that "womb" feel of being surrounded.
We did bassinets for 3 mos. We borrowed the bassinet & had the space. If you can skip the bassinet, I'd suggest it.

Re: Newborn in crib
we did a bassinet cause the babys room is down the hall, even though we'd be able to hear her, she's too far at 3am!
PED's don't recommend sleep positioners anymore, they are on the SIDS list now. At least that's what my PED told me. The baby could wiggle and squirm down and wind up face to face with the sleep positioner and breathe in their own exhale, which contributes to SIDS.
I do have Gianna on an incline though.

My son in in the crib now, hes 11 days old. I use 2 rolled up receiving blankets, one on each side of him to help him feel a bit snugger.

Re: Newborn in crib
We used our crib right away and use the Inclined to Sleep positioner. If you buy a positioner(I know alot of people here are opposed) please buy a good one.

I did! Ryan was in his crib day 1. He sleeps wonderfully and never had any problems. I didnt use a sleep positioner either. He always just slept on his back.
