Newborn moms, have you started working out??

If so, what are you doing?

I'm so excited, I got the okay from my dr. to start working out (i'm 6 weeks pp today).

I was doing CrossFit before I got pregnant (a strength and conditioning gym where we do a different Workout Of the Day each day - like circuit training... pretty intense) and i'm going to start again on Monday!! Chat Icon

I pretty much lost all of the pg weight (5 lbs to go) but I can't wait to get toned again!

I've been walking with DD a lot but I know i'm going to be SO sore after doing the CrossFit workouts for the first few weeks. Looking forward to it though. I'm going to do everything I can to have great abs again! Chat Icon

Re: Newborn moms, have you started working out??

I started working out when DS was about 7 weeks old I think. It's hard to find the time. When he naps I'd do some weights and stuff. I take kickboxing Sat mornings and DH watches him. Now that I'm back at work it's hard to find the time and spend time with DS b4 he goes to sleep. I play music and dance around and sometimes after I put him to sleep I go on the treadmill for a half hour (or till I crash b/c I'm exhausted). LOL

I Started working out lightly at 3 weeks and then went full blast when i got the ok from my dr.

I did 6 days of cardio (ran 2-3 miles a day)

and also did weight training on my own as well as Jillians 30 day shred.

I buckled down at 5 months PP. It's tough no matter when you begin.

ETA: I am running 3 days a week and doing DVD's the other 2 day during the week. I'll do a yoga DVD or cardio DVD.

Re: Newborn moms, have you started working out??

i think at 4 weeks i sstarted walking every day with Declan, then 2 weeks later I started Power 90 for about 2 weeks and have been bad and haven't worked out since but I'm actually starting my diet and about to workout in 5 minutes doing power 90 again. when we move (in hopefully 2 months) we'll be buying a treadmill for my pitbull (I just can't walk with her and the baby so she needs some sort of workout) so i'll be doing power 90 and doing the treadmill while DS sleeps

We take an hour long walk in the morning up and down hills, and on bad weather days I've started using the elliptical. Next week I'm going to start my pilates DVDs.

Re: Newborn moms, have you started working out??

I began working out 3 weeks PP. BIG MISTAKE! I opened something up and did not get the okay from teh doc until 8 weeks. I say if your doc gave you the okay, go ahead. Had I not been an idiot I think I would have been cleared at 6 weeks.

It felt so good to workout again! Enjoy it mamaChat Icon

Re: Newborn moms, have you started working out??

I have my 6 week pp appt next week. Hopefully I will get the okay from my doc to start working out. I am seriously determined to get back to the weight I was when DH and I first started dating. Or close to it.

Only 60 pounds to go! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Newborn moms, have you started working out??

6 weeks PP - did Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (she is a freakin psycho by the way) - started running 4 days a week and doing ab workouts. I gained the same amount of weight this pregnancy as I did with my first DD, but it took me a good 6 months to be completely toned and back to my pre preggo weight.

Re: Newborn moms, have you started working out??

ugh I wish!!! I'm hoping to start up by the time DD is 3 months old, which is in about a week.Chat Icon It's been sooo hard with her...at least I was able to go on walks with her this week, which is an improvement from earlier weeks! My hope was to go to Stroller Strides but I don't think that's gonna work.

Hmmm maybe I oughta get that 30 day shred...

Re: Newborn moms, have you started working out??

I've been walking. I lost the baby weight and the 10 lbs I gained between having my first child and getting preg with Chat Icon and have 5 lbs to go to get back to my best adult weight.

I may try Wii fit. I should rejoin Curves. It worked for me, but I got SO sick of that darn circuitChat Icon
