Newborn sleeping habits

with Ashlee only 11 days old.. She sleeps soundly during the day not one peep. mostly sleeps in the pack n play or car seat.
At night we have her in bassinet. She makes all these weird squeaking noises, she grunts and snorts. she is restless but not crying. she does this most of the night and i cant sleep thinking something is wrong.....did anyone experience this?

i wonder is she doesnt like the bassinet?

Re: Newborn sleeping habits

Brendan used to be a noisy sleeper at night too and slept quietly during the day. At 6 weeks we ended up moving him to his crib and we all slept better. It's hard to sleep well when you are always listening to their noises. I was always anticipating that he would wake up so I couldn't let myself fall asleep. I'm sure she's just fine. Just be happy that she's sleeping!

Re: Newborn sleeping habits

I second the above poster. We had Bella in the bassinet intil 8 weeks, those grunts and all kept me up! And she was sleeping 4-5 hours a stretch...It's also much quieter at night so you hear every sound.

I slept MUCH better once she moved to the crib...and so did she.

Agree 100% with above posters. They make so much noise in their sleep, I really don't think it has to do with the bassinet, although they can hate it (my DD did, but my son loved it!).

Re: Newborn sleeping habits

My DD makes the same sounds. In the beginning we were freaked by them and would jump everytime she made them. Now we are used to them and only jump when she starts to cry or scream.

Re: Newborn sleeping habits

Julia was the grunting queen!!! She would wake us up with her grunting, I thought she was telling me she was getting hungry, but once I took her out of the bassinet and put her in bed with us she would stop and not make a peep the rest of the night.

Re: Newborn sleeping habits

We had her in a crib at 2 weeks. She was fussy at first, but by 4 weeks, she was sleeping 6 hours, by 6 weeks, 8-10 hours and now 12-14 hours...

I think the earlier they are in a crib the more comfortable they get on the mattress and get used to it. You still have a baby baby!!!!! SHe is getting used to the basinett, car seat and swing... they all have different feels. And sleeping positions.
