Newlyweds _ passport question
I've been really alzy about getting my name changed on my passport. Can I travel with my passport under my maiden name if I book the ticket under my maiden name? My driver's license is in my married name.

Re: Newlyweds _ passport question
That's what I have done b/c I didn't want to give up my passport (you have to give it up when you do a name change and I like the stamps). I also travel with a copy of my marriage license (although on our last vacation - the woman in customs gave me a little problem about it and said, after being married for this long, I need to change it)

Re: Newlyweds _ passport question
My passport is still in my maiden name - when we make vacation plans for a place that I'll need my passport - I just book it in my maiden name.

You don't get a new passport when you change your name, they just amend it. They type in your married name on the last page and on the front page I think they type AMENDED so they look at the back page. I still have my original passport that has my maiden name in it with all my stamps but my married name is there too.

Re: Newlyweds _ passport question
Do you still need to submit your original marriage certificate in order to do that?

Re: Newlyweds _ passport question
I travelled to Europe last April with a passport in my maiden name. My ticket was in my married name. I carried my marriage license with me. I had absolutely no problems travelling at all.
I never bothered to amended it because when I was returning to the states from my HM, the US customs officer told me not to bother because they would charge me to only type something in the back. He said to change it when it came time to renew it. I amended it over the summer when it was about to expire.

When I went to get it amended, they told me they don't do it this way anymore.
