News 12
I just flipped it on and was shocked they are still having anchors broadcasting from their homes. Poor weather guy looks like he doesn’t have a/c and is sweating sitting in his living room. Any idea why they are still doing this? You would think it would be easy to distance yourself?!

It is kind of ridiculous at this point. Schools are allowed to open. Gyms are allowed to open. You can dine indoors and go bowling. People are going to work. They should be too

Not in NJ... Murphy is such a vagina.
People are going to work and schools are opening - that's the only exception to the list.
Eta:to the OP: Maybe they prefer to work at home? Some people are nervous to go to their "offices".

Who knew someone would trump Cuomo with all his rules! Amazing!

Haha my SIL came to visit with her kids and asked what was around for her to take them too. She was shocked everything is still closed.

It's crazy... Everyone is just eating and drinking outside in my area. That's all there is to do. They need to open the gyms before NJ has a major obesity/addiction problem on their hands.

Re: News 12
I surely, would never have guessed it. I don't think he is drunk with power like Cuomo, I think he is scared to have any increase in any number. I think He is done after this as Governor.
I laugh but it's sad because rainy days like this, restaurants lose money. Yesterday, my husband went to pick my son up from camp and the owner thanked him so much for supporting his business. You can see the stress and aging these past 5 months have done to him.
eating out, Camps, gyms, getting nails, hair, shopping etc., may not be essential to the consumers but it's essential to these business owners.

What's his end goal though? When will it be ok to open these things? When there are zero new cases? Not going to happen. He can look to Long Island and see how opening things hasn't harmed the numbers. So what is his issue?

The small restaurants put tables and chairs out on the sidewalk. And others who have big parking lots have tents set up.
Small gyms here are offering training sessions in the gym or allowing you to rent it for an hour to workout. But it is pricey. They are also doing bootcamp classes outside. I see them in the park and one of the gyms were holding a class in the open outside area of a building complex. So we were outside eating and all the way on the other side you see people working out. People are getting crafty with ideas to be open.

This is all well and good until the winter comes. Then what? It's really horrible for these businesses. Especially when opening in other areas- like here- has not caused any spikes. Gyms here filed a class action lawsuit against Cuomo. Suddenly he hustles his @ss on TV to announce they can open with such and such guidelines. Perhaps the same needs to be done to Murphy

I have no clue and I stopped listening to his briefings. Last I heard he was using other states as reason to pause, uses a slight uptick in positive numbers as another excuse. He always says "one more life being lost it too many lives lost". So may be he is in denial and waiting for the numbers to be 0 or the vaccine. Who knows, I don't. LOL. Others may know more of his reasoning, but it doesn't make any sense.

It's funny you said that about the restaurants because I had created a Meme with Rose and Jack from Titanic. Saying that is going to be us eating out this winter if Murphy keeps everything closed.

Maybe they are giving people the option to still work from home. It’s not like he can’t do his job from home. He or someone he lives with might have a preexisting condition.
My DH works for a company that employees thousands of people in our area. Only ten people have requested to go back into the office full time.

I wish my company would offer to let me back in the office. I'd sleep there at night to get the hell out of my house! Unfortunately they are moving backwards on reopening offices and it's driving us nuts! Working from home indefinitely is not sustainable for me. Mentally, I've fallen so far down a hole, it scares me

I'm actually the opposite. I thought I would hate WFH, but now that I've gotten used to it, I really like it! We're slowly phasing in going back to the office and I'm at the bottom of the list to go back. Right now, I don't return until September 28th. And even then, it's only every other day. I think that will work out nice for me, personally!

I'll be honest, I wouldn't mind going in 2 or 3 days and working from home the other days. I just want a balance. Having to be in the office 5 days a week does suck but having to work at home 5 days a week sucks too. I'd take half time back. I'd take anything at this point!

FWIW, both my husband and my offices' are still closed and will remain so through January. Mine is in the city and my husband works for a large public company on Long Island. I don't think as many people are back in the office as you think.

Why would you want to be back in an office if you don't have to be. I never left my office and it's no picnic. They can broadcast from home, it's a money saver for the companies, kinda no brainer

Is your company not allowing any people in the office at all?? My office has been open for a few months now, but employees have the choice to WFH. We just have to let them know if we plan to come in so they stay below a certain capacity.
