Newsday article - Suffolk girl with measles.
"MEASLES CASE IN SUFFOLK SUSANA ENRIQUEZ August 16, 2008 A 13-year-old girl from Babylon was diagnosed with measles, Suffolk health officials said Friday. The teen, who is no longer contagious, had not been immunized and was traveling in Europe recently, according to the county Department of Health Services. She visited the Bay Shore Mall on July 29, while she was contagious, the department said. People who have not been immunized and may have had contact with the teen may develop measles within 18 days of an encounter."
This is why I am glad my ped. insists on vaccinating.

I heard this on our way home. Poor girl and poor people that came in contact with her that weren't immunized and got it.

Re: Newsday article - Suffolk girl with measles.
This is all over the city too as well as mumps. I had a patient with it recently and was exposed. Why people don't immunize still boggles my mind, but who am I to tell anyone what to do with their child, if they get really sick that is the guilt they have to live with as a parent
