Has anyone been to the holiday light show sponsered by newsday in meliville? is it worth going? do they rent skates or do you have to bring your own?

Some feel it's worth it, others don't. But yes they do rent ice skates to you.

Same here! You walk through the lights in 5 mins and then they have a place to take a pic with Santa or on a sled, line was sooo long and it was freezing out.
You can go Ice Skating which I thought was cute, but besides that there is really nothing to see or do.

Re: newsday light show?
We just went last night. Honestly, it was just "ok". The walk through takes less than 5min and then aside from the ice skating (which our DD is too young for) it was really just a bunch of banks advertising and pretzels and hot cocoa at FOUR DOLLARS each!!! I think it was VERY overpriced for what it was and REALLY overpriced for everything once you're there.

I thought it was an absolute rip off. Even my three year old son said it was bad. I think the light show in Bayport (the girl scout light show) is much, much better.

Re: newsday light show?
I too have heard bad things about it.
I know my kids just enjoy seeing the local houses that are all done up. There is a great one in the Coram/Selden area on Elm Avenue, and another nice one on Erie Street in Port Jefferson Station off Jayne Blvd.
Tonight there was a Christmas light parade in Setauket that was neat.

Re: newsday light show?
We just went tonight - not worth it. It's cheap, but it took us longer to walk through the parking lot. I thought it would be better than the drive through ones for DD, since she can't see much from her car seat.
I heard it wasn't so great when it opened, but I had already bought tickets so we went.
