NEWSFLASH: I am not a walking Petting Zoo

Just in case you were wondering..

I told my office on Monday of my pregnancy. So now folks treat me like a walking, talking petting zoo!

I haven’t gain a pound (yet) and maybe, just MAYBE I show a tiny bit, nothing really big. But folks keep calling me Mama and Mommy and reach for my tummy. Some actually reach out and pet it.

Then they offer me food as if I can’t get up and do it myself or right when I’m eating! Worse, I find random foods left at my desk. One of my coworkers I’m close to (a guy) thought I was joking when I told him I wasn’t a petting zoo and he accidently left his water in a cup on my desk. I walked it over to him and people were mad at HIM “you shouldn’t make a pregnant woman get you water” Mind you he’s so close I can hit him with a waded piece of paper!! Poor guy!

At one point, someone reached out and patted my lower belly and I was so close to saying “hey, that’s getting close to my pubes.. back off!”

Not really complaining, since I am sure this is going to get worse (oh joy) but wondered how your offices were handling the news? I never expected this. Then again, can’t say I knew what to expect.

I work in an office with a very open floor plan and about 150 people.

I dont have that problem the people here know... touch me and Im swinging!!!! act like your gonna touch me and Im swinging... put your hand 3 feet away like your gonna touch me and im swinging! STAY AWAY!

I don't understand why people feel the need... I personally think is so RUDE!

i dont want anyone touching me.. i still didnt tell work people yet.. thank god i work in a small office.. but they better not even think about it..

Its just so werid.

Really the only people who touch me are mothers themselves.

kinda strange, you'd think that of all people THEY would understand!

Good news is, one lady JUST got back from maternity leave. My office pays 70% disability for 6-9 weeks (natural/cs) and gives you 4 weeks of “bonding” time with your child at full pay.

HR confirmed it.

I am so happy for that!
And they are giving me an option of working in our Melville office after the baby’s born. My direct manager even suggested a permanent relocation!!!?? I wanted to cry right there and then in happiness.

I work in the World Financial Center now. I live in Huntington. Melville would be a DREAM locale! There’s a waiting list but maternity gets dibs!

LOL!! People at work & some friends continually refer to me as Ma or Mama too & actually it really irritates me for some reason. Not sure why but it does

And I HATE people touching my "fluffy" belly"! They ALWAYS reach for the upper belly.......and HELLO people......it's still just a roll of fat there

lol. i got it worse...i work in a middle school.. so not only do i hear it from my coworkers.. i got 900 students who are also interestd in each step of my pregnancy..
