NICK AND JESS
I am one of the many that is very upset about the Nick and Jess break up. I followed newlyweds and watched anything that had them both or separately in it. Im just wondering to hear from anyone feels that same way. WHY DO U THINK IT HAS EFFECTED US SO MUCH? I never have gotten upset from a famous break up before....My DH thinks im crazy LOL

i think seeing young/attainable couples (we got to "know" them on their show) lets us idealize their relationship. the "they have everything" thing, you know. we all want the best for people in love and they were a breath of fresh air for people to watch. its disappointing!! i am sad for them too.

AHh at least there are 2 other people (outside of me) in the country that could care less about this

I'm with Red on this one. Yes, it's sad a marriage is over, it's always sad when someone's marriage ends, but honestly, I don't really care. I might as well get upset over every divorce that happens on a daily basis, then. I'm not trying to be harsh, but do any of the Hollywood marriages really ever work out anyway?

I will say this.....I agree with everyone's comments so far...but I watched Newlyweds too and while i was hesitant at first (i actually had to order the first season because i started watching it in the second season) I really felt that two "famous" people could actually have a marriage that worked. For one she was so immature and sheltered but he was soooo laid back and was not afraid to put her in her place. I guess in my mind MTV showed the bad parts and yet still made them out to be a couple that was madly in love.
Personally I think it's more Jessica in this whole thing and her immaturity but I really feel her father is a complete as* and you could even see it on the show. The scenes with him and Nick golfing were priceless. I only blame Nick in that he probably let Papa Joe tell them to wait to tell people. I think the reason it came out the day before Thanksgiving is that Nick refused to go spend Thanksgiving with her family and they knew they had to say something. If you watched all three seasons you would totally understand why i think this. It made absolutely NO SENSE why they announced it the day before a major family holiday after they waited awhile to do so. Jessica is a arse in my mind and had fame go to her head. To me after watching all three seasons (yes i admit it) that she was the one so not ready for marriage or celebrity.

I think their whole marriage was all about publicity. She and her movies, the big fancy home, being on the scene, etc....He wanted a different house, I dont think he really wanted to do Newlyweds, etc...I think she was looking for a way to advance her career and by marrying him was her ticket. Now it's taking off sort of speak and she doesnt need him anymore.
I just cant stand her. Him I dont mind. I think he was blinded by love and I am glad he is now free from her chicken by the sea stupidness.

IMO i believe that they thought they were in love. I believe they used their marriage and life as a publicity stunt. I also think after being married for a little over a year they realized (one or the other) that in actuality they were never really in love. I just don't believe that either of them married each other because they knew the other was "the ticket" . They took a chance with that show. Niether was all that huge of a star, in fact both of them imo were BEYOND cheesy. Neither were superstar status. THAT SHOW put them where they are now. And the show worked because everyone wasnted to see what stupid thing that Jessica would do. Which is why she ultimately was the star of the show and why i think her career moved up much faster than his. Lets face it, he was and acted like any other DH for the most part. THAT we can all see when we are home...no need to tune into their show. People IMO really watched to see the crazy stuff Jessica did and how upset Nick would react.
To say that he got fed up with her or that it didn't work because of Jessica's immaturity, being spoiled or that she is stupid etc etc...IMO is incorrect. He knew well before they got married who she was and how she acted. And if he didn't...shame on him.
But what i do agree with is that shortly after the start of the show...their marriage and them staying together was a publicity stunt. Hey i can't blame them. Made for funny yet cheesy TV.
IMO i am not shocked or surprised that they are getting divorced. This has been in the news for what..... over a year. PLENTY of warning and grieving time.. LOLOLOL. And imo it is the only part of their lives that they should have taped. Since it is IMO the only REALITY of them and that show. Too bad they missed the opportunity.
Hey but maybe next season we will see "DIVORCED" celebreality....

OK- Im sad about there divorce...however Im not obsessing over it...(not saying anyone here is...)
I like them and the show BECAUSE... I liked watching their marriage and their fights..
were something things staged..or maybe took up a notch for entertainment...absolutely!!! However to me it was a good idea on what goes on when you move in with your hubby or SO for the 1st time...
It displayed how 2 people in love dealt with their 2 different lifestyles...
When DH and I first moved in together... we had tisks about the cooking, and the fact that he is a complete slob... I was able to relate to MANY things that happened on that show!
It was relistic... it didnt show 2 flithy rich stars making googly eyes at eachother...
I LOVED how Nick tried to do things for himself...and that they shopped at HOME DEPOT....
Towards the end of the show... things were much more staged then the beg. either way... I loved the show, I love them...and Im sad that they couldnt make it work!
