Nickerson Beach Cabanas

I entered the lottery for a cabana at Nickerson Beach- does anyone have a cabana there? Are the cabanas/pool/playground nice? I know they did some renos after Sandy. How many years do you get the cabana for? Do tons of people enter the lottery- do you think there is a good shot at getting one?

Nickerson Beach Cabanas

I don't have a Cabana, but a friend of mine has had one for years. She splits the cost with two or three other families. Each year they all enter the lottery with hopes that one of them will get picked.
I have visited several times and I wish I was Nassau resident so I can get one.
The cabanas are great. there is electric so you can have a mini fridge, microwave and such. A shower and small changing area. a picnic table.
There is an area where you can keep a coal bbq.
The pool is great too. keep in mind that the camp uses the pool too. so sometimes it is crowded. There is a big playground by the parking lot. and I believe they replaced the one in the before the dunes due to damage from Sandy.
I think you only get it for one year and have to enter the lottery each year. but I could be wrong.
My daughter begs me every year to go. But I live in Suffolk.
