Nikon d40 question-- red eye!
I've taken 2,000+ pics with my d40 since I got it 6 weeks ago, and have NEVER gotten red eye when photographing my DD.
Now, all of a sudden, it's happening. What the heck? No lighting is different in my house, nothing....I haven't fiddled with any settings, etc.
Any ideas?
Also, what do you do in terms of red-eye for your d40? What setting do you keep it on? Do you ever have to switch it?
I'm so puzzled, I've just had it on auto the entire time and don't know what happened to it

Re: Nikon d40 question-- red eye!
Im not sure...
I just got the Nikon D60 so Im still learning...
But one of my books it make a very valid point about not worrying about red eyes in digital pictures b/c you can always edit them out. On my point and shoot I turned off the red-eye reduction option b/c it delayed the picture too much....I found I actually got much better pictures...
This is only a stab in the dark and might sound silly but could her eyes of gotten lighter? My daughters eyes were blue when they were babies but as they got older they turned gray which actually lighter than blue...(which would cause them to be more sensitive to red eye effect)

What the heck??
Do you still have it on all the basic settings like I do?
I really have no clue why this started happening, but I'm mad!

You know what. I just realized I noticed "1" pic recently with red eye. I thought that was weird but it did not happen again.
Maybe you should call Nikon.

Re: Nikon d40 question-- red eye!
I assume this is this happening when you're indoors? It's something that unfortunately "just happens" I think. I don't have the Nikon but I do have a similar-type camera (Canon) and we do get red-eye every now and again (and always indoor pics). We just fix it up once the pic is on the computer. I'm sure there is some 'fancy' way of ensuring it doesn't happen, but I can't help you with that!
