Re: Nipple confusion (mommy, not baby)

once she turned 3 months, we switched to the level 2- the hole is a bit bigger so she will feed faster- i didnt notice any signs to switch- i just did it when she reached the age.

Thank you! But I guess my worry is that feeding faster would = more gassy bubbles, no? Uggh baby stuff makes me so confused!!!!

this is what happened to us. DS takes FOREVER to finish a bottle so at 3 months i switched to the medium flow (i use playtex drop ins)

well the milk comes out so fast that he was gulping it and taking in a lot of air, which made him so uncomfortable (he is not a good burper).

i went back to the slow flow and he is a much happier baby!

i say give it a try, but don't worry if you have to go back to the slower flow nipples.

Re: Nipple confusion (mommy, not baby)

I knew DS was ready when he would suck so hard that he collapsed the nipple all the time and he would get frustrated that the flow was too slow.

The first couple of days that you try the next level, they will swallow too fast bc they are not expecting it, but after a few days, they will get used to it.

If they continue to cry bc the flow is too fast and more milk spills out than is being swallowed, switch back to the slower flow and try again the next time you feel DC is ready.

I just switched to the level 2 about a month ago...at 7 1/2 months. Rylan was a very sloppy eater and when I tried the level 2 a long time ago he wore more than he ate so I stuck with the level 1. I recently switched and again he dribbled alot but it didn't last long. He downed his bottles which was great because he was taking about 30 minutes to finish before. My poor kid must have been struggling to get the formula out...I felt bad I didn't switch earlier.
