No beta with IUI ?
After my IUI, my Dr said for me to home test on the 14th day and if its a neg, come back for blood work on cd3 for a new cycle... I thought I was supposed to have a beta done? Are these not done for IUI's in RS of Mineola or maybe it's just my doc's preference? I was just a bit surprised.

Re: No beta with IUI ?
i suppose every office is different.
I get tested a week later for progesterone, and then Beta week after that.
I have tested on my own, but i go by what the RE tests say

I guess if I get a BFP, they will monitor my beta then?

Mineola? I was surprised. Maybe Dr. Sung doesn't do them with IUI? Or she didn't have much faith in my eggs

Re: No beta with IUI ?
This time I was told I don't have to come back next week to check my prog cuz it is fine. I was shocked since the last two times I had to go back. Stelling then said to wait and see if I get my period. I don't know when that might be now that I Ovulated earlier than usual. I may go for a beta if AF doesn't show up by two weeks from tomorrow. That is when I would be due if I am still on a 30 day cycle. I never test myself. Always afraid to see a BFN. Not that getting a phone call is better
I wonder if they are trying to limit the number of people coming in for blood work. It seems to be extremely busy these days. At least in SB

I had one done 9 days ago, and was told that day I would go for progesterone and estrogen check one week later and that was the end of the cycle. Then at my level check, the nurse Linda scheduled me for a beta a week later.

this is where i had my iui's done. i always had scheduled a date for my beta, but canceled it if AF came. that is strange that they didn't schedule one for you.

Re: No beta with IUI ?
I only really bothered with that if I was on progesterone or the one or two times my period was late. I didn't need to pay a $30 copay to find out what I already knew. If you want to go in for a beta just call and make the appointment.

Re: No beta with IUI ?
I really don't want to pay the co pay if I don't have to go. I just always thought getting a beta was protocol when you have an IUI so figured I'd ask. When I go in to check progesterone, I'll ask the nurse but much rather test at home!

Re: No beta with IUI ?
Personally, that would concern me. You could have a chemical and wouldn't know it from an HPT but that's useful information to have. If it were me, I would always request a beta for this very reason. Good luck!
