No entertainment for bday party.
I am having DD bday party at a very nice park near to where I live and I want to hire entertainment. However, I dont think I will be able to afford it. Do u think them playing in the park and the pinata game i bought would be enough?

Re: No entertainment for bday party.
honestly yes... thats my opinion.. i only have a 8 week old so i dont really have any experience with this.. but i've never been to a childs birthday where theres entertainment we were always just expected to entertain ourselves!
eta: you could always bring frisby, wiffle ball, horse shoes, a craft from oritenal trading i dont know hwo old the children are. but you can make your own entertainment.

Is there a sidewalk area? You can do a bucket of sidewalk chalk.
Bottles of bubbles
I also had a box with crayons (super cheap crayola's at wal mart now) and loads of construction paper, glue sticks and scissors.

Re: No entertainment for bday party.
I had no entertainment at DS's party. But most of the kids were around 1, so I found it silly to entertain them.

Re: No entertainment for bday party.
::crashing again:: but I think it's perfectly fine. Kids will find there own fun things to do...Pinata is fun!!! My sister had a "craft" area at my nephews first birthday and to be honest, the kids mostly loved being outside chasing eachother...they did also love the pinata My aunts, Mom and me ended up playing with the crafts

Yes, I agree, the kids will love it and it's pretty cheap! You could also set up a table with play dough, an easy craft, sand art ( I have dyed salt with food coloring. So easy and cheaper than buying sand). Don't worry, it'll be fine

Re: No entertainment for bday party.
Absolutely!!! When we were little, I never went to a party with entertainment, and I always had a ball. A piniata (sp?) was always a special treat at a party.
Create things like a treasure hunt and stuff they can use their imaginations to do. You can do hot potato, musical chairs, make up little pieces of paper and have them do little skits. etc.
Just wanted to add-you can buy face paint or rub on tatoos for the kids. You can also do races, like balloon between your legs, around a cone and back. Wheel barrel races, one kids holds the other kids feet and walks on their hands. You can have them accrue points or they all get to pick 1 cheapo toy out of a pillow case (so it is fair).
(I'm notebooking this for my own future reference lol)

Re: No entertainment for bday party.
Absolutely enough! You can always come up with some activities, temporary tattoos, a very simple craft, or buy a small bubble machine (they don't cost much).
And if there is playground equipment, the kids will probably be happy on that. We went to a 2nd birthday party at a park, and honestly, the kids were happy in the playground and didn't want to do many games.
To each their own, and I don't want to offend anyone, but I think a lot of kids parties have gotten out of hand with entertainers, etc. No one I knew ever had that stuff growing up.

I am not a big fan of having an entertainer anyway. Kids will keep themselves amused

Re: No entertainment for bday party.
No question it will be enough. Not sure of the age groups but you could also do water balloons, pin the tail on something, hot potato. We did all of this for my son's birthday, most of the kids were 5 but he was only 1. The kids had a blast and all of them told me it was the best birthday party they have ever been to. You don't need entertainment. Kids have the most fun playing together.

Re: No entertainment for bday party.
I didn't do entertainment for DD's party. I don't think it's necessary at all. Go to Oriental trading and order some craft kids...get bubbles, sidewalk chalk etc.

Re: No entertainment for bday party.
Absolutely fine for no entertainment. I have done huge parties for Ava and a pretty large Christening for Brody.
His first Birthday is at the picnic area of our town pool next weekend. I am having pizza, chips, drinks, cupcakes and swimming. I was going to have entertainment, but am scaling down.
I think it will still be a fun party.
