Re: no offense to any school teachers BUT

Im constantly having a problem with the sschool. The uniforms werent voted on properly by the committee. or at least tallied correct Im sure. All the parents Ive spoken to since I came home are upset with the idea too. And being on the comittee they know my schedule it is hard to get off work

Re: no offense to any school teachers BUT

Just go up to the school and opt out. They can't convince you if you don't want to be convinced. i don't see what the problem is. And the diff between publicj school and private isn't uniforms (I didn't wear a unifrom in private school)....I don't think a uniform is a make or break thing.

My essay for the LAST was actually on school uniforms, LOL.

I think uniforms are good because they're cheaper for a whole year than buying many different outfits for kids and trying to keep up with trends, and they make all of the kids equal, so the poor kids don't have to be made fun of b/c they can't afford whatever is "in" at the time, and kids in very early grades are getting into gang colors, even if it's just as a joke, it can be pretty scary. When i was in Jr. High, we had an ever growing ist of colors we could NOT wear AT ALL. We couldn't wear red and blue for sure, then they added yellow, and I forget what else. That was really annoying, and I'm sure it was hard on parents when a large portion of the wardrobe I already had could not be used. Uniforms are actually for the protection of the children. it'll also make it easier for kids to get ready in the morning - no more "what do I wear" dilemma!

1. If you can opt out, just do it

2. Uniforms aren't that bad

ETA: I understand feeling slighted by the committee, but if your kids are getting a good education, I'd leave it at that

i would think uniforms would be easier to wear than regular clothes...i wore a uniform from age 5 to 17 and I didnt feel the social pressure of having to wear the "right"clothes to school...
