noisy neighbor
We live in a co-op. I am trying to do homework for my summer class right now and a neighbor above or below or the left or right (I can't identify it!! ugh) is blasting music. I can't concentrate. I know it's the middle of th day, but shouldn't your noise stay within the confines of your apartment? It's been about a half hour now and I'm frustrated. I even relocated myself to a different room and it's no help :( Without knowing where it's coming from, what can I do?

Not sure if it applies to co-ops but a co-worker of mine went through the same thing, and notifie the board as they it's stated in the rules/regulations that rugs in certain parts of the apartment are manadatory.
Either way, a complaint to the co-op board is best.

Re: noisy neighbor
have you called them or knocked on their door to ask them to lower it?

Re: noisy neighbor
You could try listening at adjacent doors to find the source and ask them to turn it down a bit. If you can't figure out where it's coming from, there's nothing you can really do.
My building is not sound proof at all so except for extraordinary noises, I just have to deal.

Re: noisy neighbor
I have since deduced that it has to be below me because the office chair is vibrating a little now... Old people live down there though and this is loud heavy metal... doesn't really make sense.... sigh....

Re: noisy neighbor
I would try to find the neighbor and ask them to lower it. I try not to complain until I have exhausted all normal methods of communication.

Re: noisy neighbor
yeah I just went downstairs and sure enough the floor is blasting and it's definitely coming from the people directly below me... I rang the bell but no one answered...
Would it be inappropriate to leave a nice little note later? Their TV is also frequently on so loud I think it is DH in the other room.
