Non-Licensed Electrician?
My friend's sister's boyfriend is an electrician's apprentice (with a licensed electrician). We need to upgrade our electrical system. Should I go through his boss? or just ask the boyfriend if he would do a sidejob. I would never use a non-licensed electrician if i didn't know this guy personally.
I just read that electrical upgrades need COs? Is that true?

Re: Non-Licensed Electrician?
if the gentleman is not licensed I think that could be a problem with you homeonwers insurance if there is a problem down the rode. For us, the town has to inspect all work that is done, and approve credentials beforehand.

You do need a permit to upgrade the electric. We had to get one.

Really? We didn't have to get anything when they just did ours. Our electrician was licensed though and I would never not use one that was not.

Ditto. We had a licensed electrician do ours too...and no permit. LIPA came and inspected too.

I wouldn't let some of his apprentices I hear about touch our electric. They're pretty much there to do minor electrical work & fetch coffee.
This is exactly why I am asking. Many apprentices don't know anything. Some know more than their bosses.
