We went on the dawn out of ny but it had 2 stops in florida, one to their private island, and one in bahamas. It was a good time although I don't recommend having 2 stops in Florida.

My sister and her family went on NCL's cruise last year and wasn't too found of the cruiseline in general. She had cruised on other lines before.

They have alternative dining which is both good and bad. Good in that you can dine at anytime, but bad in that there's a chance they will run out of food. A friend of mine who cruised on NCL experienced it while he cruised with them.

You may want to check out:
cruisecritic.com and cruisemates.com to find out how people rate their cruise expereince.

I'm a cruiser and personally prefer Princess Cruises because they do have alternative dining as well as traditional and they are 1 or 2 steps above NCL in terms of quality and service. Princess also sails out of New York. Try the Crown or Emerald, both newer ships.

Good luck!

Re: Norweigan Dawn Cruise

I went on it 2 years ago. It was fun, but I hated the ports we stopped in.
It was out of NY to Bahamas. I much rather go father down into the Caribbean or Bermuda on a cruise. Two stops in Florida is way too much.

Pro-
1. Enjoyed the freestyle dining
2. Great entertainment.
3. Really good food and service.
4. Leaves out of NY, so you don't have to fly.

Cons-
1.One main pool, usually boats have two. It was way to crowded.
2. The boat was decorated nice, but was not as classy as other boats I have been on. This includes the stateroom. Though the BR was bigger then any boat I have been on.
3. No night club (they have dancing but, it is in the same room as they have shows. Usually boats have a seperate area for the club.
4. Bad Ports of call

Norweigan is a good cruise line, and I would go on one again. Though I prefer a Princess, Royal Caribbean or Celebrity cruise over it.

We went on the Dawn with the same itinerary... we went at the end of June...

The only bad thing is one of the ship's propellers broke so we never made it to the Bahamas... we went to Fla and the private island... i was kinda disapointed because i have been to Fla a million times and was really looking forward to the Bahamas part...

when we stopped in the orlando area we went to the Beach for the day... we had a lot of fun, then in Miami we also went to the beach...

on the private island we went parasailing... that was awesome!

I thought the food was good and have no other complaints... the pool wasn't over crowded... we always were able to find chairs to lay on...

we are going on another NCL cruise at the end of June, this time to Alaska!

Re: Norweigan Dawn Cruise

We did the Dawn two years ago in July.
Mind you, it was my first and only cruise, but I loved it!
I liked the Freeyle dining. There was a really yummy steak restaurant, but I cant remember the name.
We were in a "suite" and had a really helpful "butler" in addition to the regular concierge person. (I am not sure if this is normal, but it was great to call the guy up for anything we needed! )
There was a lot to do on board, and I loved the Elemis Spa!
Having only the one pool didnt bother me, there was always room to lay out.

We did the space center and happened to be in port the morning a shuttle launched.
Their island was nice.
Nassau was fun, we shopped and explored.

Have an AWESOME time!!!!

My ILs went at the end of July and had a great time. They are frequent cruisers and enjoyed it.

The only complaints they've had so far about cruises have been when they went on the Winjammer Cruise out of Barbados (you could feel the ship move and the nightlife consisted of things such as crab races).
