Re: Not a fun topic, but how long does...
Probably a week, but then it goes on for a few weeks after for some (like myself). I can tell you that 12 days later for all of mine, I could still barely move. I had 4th degree tears with all of them and walking, sitting, standing, everything hurt. With one, I ended up with a hematoma, and another I ended up with an infection in one of the stitch areas.
You could also very well be one of those women who a week later was up and moving and back to her normal self. There are so many factors, its hard to say.

Not a fun topic, but how long does...
With my vaginal delivery it was really gross I bled so heavy with clots for the first 3 days then it was just heavy bleeding. Then it would go away then come right back. It lasted about 6 weeks.
With my c-sections the first day or 2 out of bed was bad then it slowed down a bit.

Re: Not a fun topic, but how long does...
I had 2 sections and never really had any bad bleeding with either except for the day right after delivery (had both babies at night). Going forward, it was just like a medium-flow period for a week and then spotting for a few more weeks. My periods are WAY worse now than after delivery.

It's only a few days. Then I had a normal type period for maybe a week or 2, and now it's just light spotting. I'm 3 weeks pp.
I had a vaginal delivery both times and recovery was super quick! I was feeling like my normal self within a few days. Recovery is different for everyone though.

Re: Not a fun topic, but how long does...
It depends person to person. Also realize that if you end up with a C-section both your recovery and the amount you bleed with be very different than someone who had a vaginal delivery.
I had two C-sections, the bleeding was the worst the first few days (VERY heavy) but it started to taper off over time. It still took a few weeks for it to completely subside. Also, there was NO way in h-e-l-l I would've been going to a wedding 12 days PP. No way. I was still in a lot of pain at that point, not walking well, and between just having a baby and the surgery I was EXHAUSTED.
You're not going to really know if you're up to it until the day of the wedding. Everyone will have a different recovery and experience so while someone might be able to go with no problem, someone else (like me) wouldn't even entertain the idea. Just play it by ear and see how you feel. Good luck with everything!

Re: Not a fun topic, but how long does...
I think it varies greatly from person to person.
I had a vaginal delivery with a second degree tear. I was definitely very uncomfortable 2-5 days post partum. By 12 days PP, I could have gone to a wedding if I had to (although I was definitely not feeling 100% like myself for a very long time). But between BFing and sleep deprivation I am not sure how I would have done it.

I had a scheduled C-section and mine lasted for 5 days after. then it was the lighter bleeding. It was yucky but managable. Nursing helped to speed it along though. You will be fine at the wedding. I EBF and never leaked all over. You will need to pump or nurse every 2-3 hours though so be prepared for that.

Re: Not a fun topic, but how long does...
I was a bridesmaid 18 days after a repeat c/s. Thankfully the dress was a thick material as I leaked everywhere dispute nursing pads and nursing dd. I don't know if I could have done it less than two weeks after giving birth, but I know someone who had a regular delivery and was a moh for her sister less than a week after giving birth. For my son I had the horrible bleeding for a long time three weeks. For my daughter it was 5 days tops.

I never had any scary/really heavy bleeding. Nothing that would have kept me home! You just wear a pad.
Ditto! It was heavy but not unmanageable. However I was so sore for about 3 weeks... it hurt to sit, walk, stand. I tore internally so maybe that is why? I would NOT have been able to be in a wedding party, I was miserable.

I had heavy bleeding for a few days but I was very uncomfortable for a few weeks. I only had a small tear but I had a lot of "stretching" and I was very sore.
