Not a "viable" pregnancy
I was 5 1/2 weeks and at my 3rd test found out my levels were decreasing and I am having a miscarriage. I am dealing with it ok as I keep telling myself it is a natural thing. My question is I have been bleeding for a week. Does anyone know when my normal cycle should start again? TIA

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
so sorry! When I miscarried, I spotted for about 2 weeks until the actual miscarriage-heavy AF like flow for 4-5 days and then continued spotting till AF came 6 weeks later....
Yes 6 weeks. Everyone is different. A lot of it is when your levels hit zero--mine took that long to hit zero. I'm sure you'll go back for more bloodwork.

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
I have no experience with this. I just wanted to send hugs. Unfortunately, they happen and sometimes it's just because the chromosomal makeup is not right. so many women have one miscarriage and then they get pregnant and carry to term and have a healthy baby. I pray that is the case with you. If you are worried about the blood call your doctor's office. It can't hurt.

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
So sorry to hear this.
My sister had one and bleed for about 4 weeks.
I hate to say it...but the Dr.'s weren't very helpful with my sister...they didn't even tell her what to expect.
I would maybe contact your Dr. and ask about it.
to you again!

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
First I need to say how very very sorry I am for you. Miscarriages are one of the worst things a to go through emotionally. Since you were early in your pg, and your hcg is a low number. Your miscarriage shouldn't last long. You will have bleeding until all the tissue passes. When you go back for a u/s they will be able to tell you if there is any tissue or fluid pockets (blood). Sometimes the actual u/s will activate the cervix to have more pass through. As soon as all the tissue passes, then your new cycle will begin. Actually, it's the tissue that has to be out of the system more than the hcg. My friend conceived quickly after a miscarriage with 50 miu/hcg. Basically, treat the bleeding like AF. Your follies may already be growing to start a new ovulation. Take care of yourself as much as you can. If you need to talk, just FM. All my prayers to you and your dh

I would think it's time to find a new doctor. I would go postal if someone did that to me.

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
Oh hon I am so sorry to hear this...... I went through this, as have too many of us here, in April. My Dr. was very concerned with my spotting the whole time and had me in for an u/s every week, but you can't stop nature....
I had a d&c so I didn't spot afterwards, and it took me almost 3 months to start getting my period again. It was a long wait. My Dr. told me to wait 3 cycles, probably because of the d&c, but so many women get right back on the horse (um, no pun intended) and get pg lickety-split.
Lots of and please feel free to talk to us, we know where you are coming from. You will be OK.....

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
I'm sooooo soooooo sorrry... unfortunately there are more women on here than you realize who have gone through the same thing
I miscarried at 6 weeks... my doctors tested my hcg levels until they went down to zero, which only took a couple of days. I went from 141 to 0 in I think 2 days. The bleeding, for me, only lasted about 5 days, and on the last day of bleeding I passed a little bit of tissue. A few days after that I ovulated (unbeknowst to me) and incredibly enough, I conceived at that time, and am now 39 weeks pregnant, so be careful if you don't want to get pregnant again quickly...
I had a similar experience with one of my docs... I LOVE my practice with the exception of one doctor. I came in bleeding and crying, and he rushed me through the appointment and told me, well, you know, we see this everyday, it's really not that big a deal I REFUSE to see him now and will only go to the other doctors...

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
Thank you everyone. I am almost brought to tears here. Felicia I read your post and I really feel for you. It has been hard for me since we(DH and I) were so excited and told about 10 people now to go back and tell all those people what happened just makes it linger. I know this is a very common thing and there is a reason for it all, it is still hard as many of us know. Thank you all for the support and good wishes.

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
Theresa I am in the process of finding a new Dr. It just seems like it is all so routine to them. Even though they have seen many women they have to remember for that 1 woman in front of them it is devastating.
Redstar: You should be Dr. Redstar! I would go to you. You always have sage and knowledgable advice!

Re: Not a "viable" pregnancy
I am soo sorry
I too m/c'd at 5 1/2 weeks in July, it's awful emotionally but please have hope the pain does slowly go away with each passing day.
My levels were down to zero within a week of passing tissue. I bled for about a week-10 days. I o'd 2 weeks or so after my levels were down to zero.
I am soo sorry you have to go through this, as like other girls said, so many have gone through the same thing too.
Please Fm me if you have any questions or need to talk.
many hugs You and your Dh are in my thoughts and prayers
