Not fully TTC related but nervous
If you remember last cycle I was having pretty bad cramping, like a dull ache and having to go to the bathroom all the time. I went to my gyno and they did a urine test.
I just found out I have strep B. I did take an antibiotic but it doesnt always kill it and although I feel better I definetly still feel some acheyness in my pelvic area.
Of course I googled it and I am getting all this crazy info. People can die from it, it can cause stilll birth, you will have to be on IV antibiotics during delivery if you test positive for it. But I also read that it is fairly common.
I am definetly a little freaked out right now. Have any of you experienced this or heard about it?
TIA

Re: Not fully TTC related but nervous
Google is both a blessing and a curse. There's so much great info out there but there's also a ton of stuff out there that would scare the crap out of anyone.
I think as long as you and your doctor are aware of the situation and you take the proper precautions, you should be fine. If you have more questions, I'd definitely give your doc a call.

Well I don't think you should be concerned because when you do get pregnant you will be treated. The blessing is that you know you carry it so you and your doctor can treat it when you deliver.

Re: Not fully TTC related but nervous
It's really nothing to worry about. In your 3rd trimester the OB will do a strep test and if you test positive it just means you will need antibiotics before the baby is delivered. It's not really a big deal so don't freak yourself out.

The test everyone for strep B when they are pregnant. If its positive they give you IV antibiotics when you go into labor. I think its pretty common.
