Not PG but I have a career question
Hi ladies, congrats to you all!
I was wondering if any of you commute to the city from LI and how you are doing with it.
TTC will be soon and I am trying to decide if I should take a new job, it will be in the city......
Ay input?
TIA
Gina

Re: Not PG but I have a career question
I commute to the city everyday. The hardest part of commute during my pg has been this heat, other than that i haven't had a problem. After i give birth i am debating in whether or not to stay in LI for work or continue to work in the city.

Re: Not PG but I have a career question
I commuted to the the city every day until I was 37 weeks 3 days and I was induced that same day after I took the train to my dr appointment...
It really wasn't that bad until the heat of August really kicked in. I have to say, this summer would have totally kicked my azz...
I took the LIRR and then the Subway two stops...you do what you gotta do I guess.

Re: Not PG but I have a career question
I live in Queens, but it takes me almost an hour to get to MT during rush hour (and it's only a 5 minute drive away ).
I must admit that the commute has been horrible the last couple of weeks. But, otherwise it's not so bad. I say if the money is worth it, then go for it! If it's just a few extra dollars, then it may not be worth it.

If I remember correctly, she would not be getting a pay increase.....I can see if it was for like 5-10K more a year, it may be worth it but for a lateral move, I would not do it

Re: Not PG but I have a career question
I commute to the city from NJ. I'm 6 months now and i'm fine. I take my time and drink lots of water- if i'm late, i'm late- hey i made it in at least.
I have a short commute though- 20 minutes into Hoboken, and then 20 minutes from hoboken to NYC- i'm around the block from the PATH.
Leaving work at 5.40 I am home by 6.30 so it isn't THAT bad.
edited post that it took me 9 months to get pregnant- so I'm glad I didn't postpone my life for TTC.

I agree with you completely.
And Dina, I love that it takes you less time to get to another state than it takes me to get to an ajacent borough

Same here.. I have not really minded the commute throughout my pregnancy except for the past weeks where its been boiling outside
The only difference for me is that I commute from Westchester to NYC. I take the Metro North into Grand Central and then walk about 10 blocks to my job.
I would stay at this job but I get home around 7:15pm or sometimes a little later - so that is why I might have to find something closer to home when I have the baby (unless I can change my hours, which I'm doubtful on) I just don't want to be away from him until that late at night

You are right, but the pay is the same to start. There's raises in March and a merit based bonus of 15% which I hope to get.....that would put me way over what I am capped at right now.... So very confusing!!!

Well i say to each it's own even if it is a lateral if it will make her happier in the long run it will be worth it.
