not really TTC related...WWYD: clothes related

So my birthday is just about a week away, and our 1 year anni is a few days after that. DH asked me what I want and usually I say clothes (I love clothes)

Now bc we are TTC and hope (fingers crossed) to be PG soon, should I buy maternity clothes? JC Penney has a mean sale going on right now, and we have the extra money now too, so I'm not sure what I should do? I would only buy a few basics, no real season related items.

Does this sound crazy? idk what to do!

I wouldn't. It's like, you know how if you're a size 8 but you want to be a size 6? And you go shopping and there's a pair of pants you barely squeeze into, but you think to yourself, "I'll buy these because I'll be a size 6 really soon! I'm pretty close already. I just have to keep going to the gym!" And you buy them, and then every time you open your drawer for the next few months and see them, you feel like: 1)an idiot because you wasted the money; and 2)a failure because you didn't reach your goal?

Is it just me that does this?

Anyway... all the fashion shows say to buy for the size you are, not the size you want to be. So I think the same applies for maternity stuff.

I wouldn't, and I'm not superstitious at all (I already ordered pregnancy workout DVDs), but practical. I just think you won't need maternity for at least a few months, so you don't know what season to get. And like PP said, you won't know your size. While you may not need maternity yet, you may need bigger sizes of regular clothes due to bloating.

thanks for talking me off that ledge. its a part of my psycho "i want to be PG" stalking of all maternity clothes websites and such.

i will hold out and there will always be stuff on sale, and my sister is giving me some stuff too.
