WWYD-TTC#2 and house related

so we currently have our condo on the market as we are ready to buy a house. Unfortunately with the market being the way it is, it doesn't look like it will be selling anytime soonChat Icon the thing is me and my DH would like to TTC #2 next spring. So do we put that on hold until we sell (which could be years with the market being so crappy) or do we go for it and have 4 of us squeezed into a 2 bed, 2 bath condo? We really want our DS and our next baby to be close in age but i hate having to have the two of them sharing a small bedroom. plus our living room looks like toys r us now, i cant even imagine having baby stuff for 2 children in our place. You wouldnt be able to move.
Any advice is appreciated, esp those who do have two or more in an small house, apartment, or condo.
TIA!!

First I wouldnt plan on holding off....you can make it work, as tight as it might be if its something you all really want why wait? You dont want to regret it later.

And you never know alot can change in the next few months hopefully you will sell it by then !

I would TTC while the house is on the market. Hopefully you will sell first. Even if you put off the house until after the baby, you won't have anymore toys than you do now. My 2 are 1&2 now and I don't have any more toys, actually less becaues I keep taking toys away since they only dump it and I clean it.

i would not put off TTC, what if it takes 2 years to sell the place (not likely, just saying)

I am in the same exact place right now.

2 bed 2 bath apt.

Still waiting for the okay to buy.

I say we should just go for it, Leo thinks we have already grown out of this place.

I would TTC

hee hee...I keep saying this too.

We're *sort of* in the same position...we've been working on getting an addition going on our house all summer Chat Icon Chat Icon and it doesn't look like it's happening any time soon...and I was HOPING to have it done by the time #2 comes along, but again...it "ain't happenin". We have a 2 bedroom, ONE bath...and the house is small and completely overrun with toys and "stuff"....at this point...I don't want to wait to TTC until the house is done because you just never know.

So I say TTC when you want and the house stuff will all work itself out. So you're cramped for a bit...no matter what, you'll find a way Chat Icon

Re: WWYD-TTC#2 and house related

we're in the same situation right now although we're not really in the process of adding or extending or doing anything about it. I've been stressed about this for quite sometime now because we're like TRU here too...we just made the ultimate sacrifice (j/k) and put our coffee table under our dining room table to make more room in the living room. I can't even imagine another baby in this house...but really don't want to put it off. I think we're still going to wait a year but that's probably as long as I want to wait. maybe by then the market will rebound (hopefully)!

Re: WWYD-TTC#2 and house related

IMO i would go for TTC

worse comes to worse if you do get PG and really want the house. Put the condo up for a steal price and get rid of it.

ITA - We live in a duplex - 3 bedrooms, 1 for us, 1 for DC, and 1 for my stepdaughters - they share a small room. We aren't TTC yet, but we won't be moving out of here for a while, so there is a strong possibility a baby will be here one day - where will we put it?????

We had DD while living in a one bedroom apt. bc we knew we wanted a family but buying a house first was not in the cards. We were cramped until we bought our house but I would not have changed it for the world!
Good Luck!

Re: WWYD-TTC#2 and house related

thanks everyone,Chat Icon i appreciate the advice. We are thinking that if our place doesn't sell by the time we are ready for #2, we will prob go for it, move the two of them into our bedroom for the time being (which is bigger) and we will take the smaller bedroom. We were so excited to buy this condo 2.5 years ago, thinking it would appreciate, we could get our house right in a couple years, etc. We didnt expect the market to get so bad and that we would end up being stuck here, while wanting to expand our family. On a brighter note atleast we are saving more $$, since the mortgage is not terrible here. We are trying to stay positive LOL

Re: WWYD-TTC#2 and house related

My advice to you is to go ahead, don't plan your life on what ifs, years form now what will you remember looking back, that your two DC's were close and all the times they shared togehter being so close in age, or the fact they they shared a roomKWIM

I know it will be rough for a while, but you never know what will happen, your condo could sale quickly.

What ever you decide good luck to youChat Icon
