Not sure what is going on - off to the Hematologist (UPDATED AGAIN)
So, I have a blood clotting disorder and am on Lovenox. Yesterday, I started having severe pain and swelling in my upper right thigh.
I went to health services at my job and she was unsure as to what it was - she said that it MAY be a side effect of the lovenox. I am off to the hematologist at 3:30...wish me luck 
UPDATE - so the hematologist thinks it is a hematoma (basically a large bruise within my thigh muscle). He said to wait 24-28 hours and if the pain does not subside, I will go for an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis
If it is a hematoma, there is really no treatment and although it is PROBABLY due to the blood thinners I am taking, he said I should not have to stop taking them

2nd UPDATE -
So I went for the venous ultrasound yesterday and was told I did not have a clot OR a hematoma 
My hematologist's nurse told me as a precautionary measure to stop taking my lovenox for 5 days
then today the other nurse called me and told me that they found a 2.2cm enlarged lymph node in my groin. She told me it was not uncommon but that the doctor wanted to see me in 3 weeks for a follow up

Good luck! I am curious to know if it is a side effect of the lovenox b/c i am on it too. I haven't had that side effect though.

Good luck! I am curious to know if it is a side effect of the lovenox b/c i am on it too. I haven't had that side effect though.
I was on it with my first pregnancy and had no problems, it may be totally unrelated to the lovenox, we will see

did you bump your thigh, or do anything to create a hematoma? typically they dont form unless there is some kind of trauma bad enough to cause a good amount of bleeding from a vein or artery into the surrounding tissue. do you have any swelling or inflammation? if it persists I'd say you should get a venous duplex to rule out DVT.
either way, FEEL BETTER!!!
I'm editing because i re-read my post and I sound like a paranoid granny. SORRY! i see this stuff everyday so i always jump on posts like this. anyway, a venous duplex couldnt hurt, it would tell you if it's a hematoma too

I do not remember banging my leg and I have no bruise. My thigh is swollen (like in a band accross my upper thigh) but it is not sensitive to the touch at all, the pain is deep within my muscle. I guess the doctor thinks that due to the lovenox, I am more succeptable to hematomas. What is a venous duplex. He said they can see what it is by doing an ultrasound
