not sure what to do... work related
So unfortunately i was taken out of work and put on bed rest at 25 weeks pregnant. (i had only been at my job for 25 weeks i found out i was pregnant the night after my interview ) so i know i dont qualify for FMLA since i was not there a year.
anyway.. im not planning on going back due to the location of the job and now my DH and i are relocating off the island with his job. So i was going to be resigning anyway... BUT heres the thing.. TODAY i get a certified letter in the mail that states the following....
dear megan,
Please be advised that your leave of absence has ended.
POSITION: Effective immediately your position will be posted. IF you are able to return to work and your position has been filled by a regular permanent employee, you will be eligible to apply for any vacant position for which you are qualified, upon recieving medical clearance to return to work. please call so we can discuss our available positions.
Now the letter is dated 7/24 which was my due date i delivered 3 weeks early.. but obviously even if i was planning on returning i wouldnt be able to return for another few weeks.
so heres my questions...
1. Was i terminated? 2. Do i need to call, write a letter to formally resign? 3. Since leaving at 25 weeks all the powers that be have been terminated and noone i know is there anymore for me to call and contact.
im sorry if these seem like silly stupid questions, this was my first "real" job in the field of my career, before hand i worked in a doctors office for a doctor who has become more like family over the years so things were very informal, so now im not quite sure how or what to do and would really appreciate any input you ladies could help with.

I don't think you were terminated, because, technically, your leave of absence ended and you have not returned to work. (Granted you had a baby!) BUT, if you haven't contacted anyone, they are allowed to assume you have abandoned your job, but have given you the opportunity to apply for another position. I would formerly resign so that you can not be accused of job abandonment. Unless you plan on using them as a reference, which can be hit or miss, based on the letter, I would just send a letter, keep a copy and move on and enjoy the time with your baby!

thank you.. i have been in contact with them and they were fully aware of everything that had been happening. So i will just do myself the favor and send a formal letter. I have to use them as a reference since its the only place i have had work in my field.
