Not sure where to post this, but need advice

DH and I booked a trip to Key West for Thanksgiving week. I am pregnant a little over 16 weeks (4 months) and my Doctor advised me not to travel. She provided me with a Doctor's note. I got Travel Insurance on the airfare and filing a claim.

Regarding the place where we were were going to stay, I put a deposit of about 160 or 170. I called last week to let them know what was going on and I would have to cancel due to my Doctor not wanting me to fly.

She won't return my deposit. On the website this is the cancellation policy:

Cancellation Policy: We require a minimum of 30 days written notice of your cancellation. If you cancel within 30 days of your reservation, a minimum $25 cancellation fee will apply. For special Key West events and/or Key West Holidays the cancellation fee is larger which we will inform you about at the time of your reservation.

What can I do?

Here is the website:

That stinks that they won't refund your money. But why can't you travel? I understand you're PG, but I traveled PG up until 32 weeks. Sorry if I'm being nosey.

You didn't get the insurance on the hotel as well?
If its the policy of the hotel, I don't think you can do anything about it. They are being azzes, but they are allowed to.

ETA if you can't fly, can you drive or take the train to FL?

I really don't want to get into the reasons why the doctor does not want me to travel.

Maybe because it's Thanksgiving week, they are charging more. I would try talking to the owner or the manager and see if there's something more they can do.

But look at the site. It doesn't say that.

It does say that the fee is more during holidays weeks. Did they "inform you of the larger cancellation fee" when you made your reservation? If not, I think you have a case for fighting it.

I would call your credit card company and have them dispute it for you.

ITA, you are providing more than 30 days notice. they should allow you to cancel but you may have to pay more than the $25 usual fee.
