Not sure where to post this- but (SPR) we had a big victory today (also, some info for those who have asked me about being a surrogate)
Today was a very important day for all 4 of us, well 5 counting this blessing I'm carrying in my belly.
SIL, BIL, DH and I had to appear at Family court today to request an order to have BIL's name put on the birth certificate at birth. Without this, if we put his name on the paperwork at the hospital , there is a CHANCE the hospital (or whomever processes the birth certificate) could give us problems. SIL & BIL's attorney suggests this now (pre-birth) so we have it on hand to prevent further complications when obtaining birth certificate.
We were successful!! The judge heard all our info (How child was conceived, I was on meds to prevent egg production and DH & I abstained from intercourse in/around time of embryo transfer) and she granted the order!!!!!
This is a HUGE HUGE HUGE success !!!!! Needless to say, we all shed some tears of joy!
Due to the fact that NYS does not recognize surrogacy, I will have to be listed as the mother, as I am the one giving birth. But SIL's attorney will be processing an expedited adoption as soon as possible after birth, so SIL's name can "replace" my name as mother on the birth certificate. Hope that process goes as smoothly.
Thank you ALL for your kind words in FMs and posts- I am VERY humble and often feel awkward when people say such kind words for what I am doing. I understand the magnitude, but it was one of the easiest decisions I've made in my 35 years of life.

Congratulations to you and your entire family!!   You are a wonderful person for doing what you are doing- easy decision or not!! May you have an easy labor and delivery!!

Yes, we didn't know either until we started the process. It makes it a bit more challenging, but not impossible!

That is the most selfless thing anyone can do. I think its so amazing that you are helping to bring a life into this world that otherwise couldn't have happened. And you are helping to create a family! It must be an amazing feeling!
