Not sure who to ask.. Mommies w/children
What is the cutoff month for school? There is a month that if you are born in or after you can't go to school in September. They make you wait until January.
Does anyone know the month? Thanks!

It is different in each school district. I would call the Central Office of your local school district and ask them.

I agree, call your district and ask but in general, on the island, it's typically around the end of November for the cut off give or take a few days but call and check to be sure.

I think ours was the first of December, but then they were talking about changing it to September so it really all depends on your district.

def depends on the school district.. but most districts will have a note on the website that specifically states kindergarten registration for children born by X date..
it used to be pretty consistently in december but that has changed a bit.

My district's website (Seaford) says that incoming Kindergardeners must be 5 years old by December 1, 2008.
I work in NYC and I think the cut off date is December 15th. See if your district has the information on their website.

Most Long Island school districts, with the exception of handful, have December 1st as the cut-off.
