Not using a carseat after 5 years??
I know we're not supposed to use a carseat passed it's expiration date or 5 years because the plastic starts to deteriorate, etc., but does anyone know if this is an actual law or regulation? Any links to an article or anything?
I wanted to show my SIL because she's been using her carseat for 6 years and wants to keep using it for another year and I'd rather she have all the info before she does that. She was offering me the seat to use with my baby too and I mentioned the "not using it passed a certain point" thing and she wanted more info. TIA!!

There are no laws to stop you from eating a yogurt that is expired in your fridge. Yet, it's common sense.
There is a manufacturer production date and an expiration date on my old car seat.
