noticing that babies are being born bigger and bigger...
whats your theory? i think its bc of all the hormones that are in foods such as eggs and chicken. this is causing bigger babies. it is also causing girls to get their AF at 8 yrs OLD!!!!!!these chemicals i think are more dangerous then the FDA realizes.
PS it doesnt matter how much u eat during pregnancny when it comes to size....

Re: noticing that babies are being born bigger and bigger...
I don't think the majority of babies are being born bigger. But I think the bigger babies are more vocalized. Most babies that I have known to be born recently have been under 8lbs.

I think as a population we're larger than generations before. We're eating much worse, in terms of carbs, sugars, and you're right hornones in our food etc. Gestational Diabetes is at an all-time high - and its not just detection.
Gestational Diabetes, if uncontrolled, causes an excess of blood sugar in the baby. The baby's body will produce more insuliln - which in a fetus is a growth hormone - which in turn produces larger babies.

I think it's because as society becomes more advanced, so do our diets. Generations and generations ok, women didn't eat as well as we do today, and what was bad for the fetus wasn't as well known. Now women have bigger babies and our bodies haven't caught up yet.

Re: noticing that babies are being born bigger and bigger...
I agree that it is in the news more but I don't think babies are being born bigger. Both my kids were 7lbs and some oz. and when I was born I was 8lbs 15oz
I try to avoid all the chemically enhanced foods and ones grown with chemicals since I don't know the effects of them these days but I don't know if it has to do with making bigger babies.

I had GD and my peanut was 6lbs. 11 1/2 oz. Not too big!

I don't know what it is?
Caiden came 5 days early - 10lb 12oz Connor came 10 days early - 10lb 5oz
If they had come on time they would of been at least 11lbs!
I didn't have GD with either PG either so I know it wasn't that!
I take Prenate Elite prenatals so if anyone also takes them and has had big babies let me know!

I took Prenate Elite and gained a Godawful amount of weight and popped out a 7.14lbs healthy baby boy just shy of his 40th week.
I was 7.12lbs back in 1979 so I considered him average. I always heard that in most cases babies run the same weights as their mother's did at birth.

Good Point! I dont think its prenatals or food because I didnt take prenatals (as per dr) and ate totally normal and had a baby 7 pounds 1 oz. I also think that when babies are 9 pounds plus it is talked about more.

Re: noticing that babies are being born bigger and bigger...
I think that back when I was born people weren't as health conscious as they are today. They drank, smoked and ate everything while pregnant (at least my mother did). Today we are so much more informed about healthily choices and I think healthier babies are being born because of that. IMO

Re: noticing that babies are being born bigger and bigger...
I have no idea where my big baby came from. When I was born I was 7 5 and dh was around the same. I eat pretty healthy and did so also while pregnant. I did take prenatals and tested negative 3xs for GD. I only gained around 25 pounds and dd was born 5 days late at 9 10!

DOn't forget that lots of women have stopped smoking during pregnancy, whereas years ago, they didn't. Smoking during pregnancy can lead to lower birth weights.
