NOW I understand why parents say they need SUVs
We put the infant seat in our car this past weekend, getting ready for the new  or  . After much manuevering and me being very cranky, we got it in and level, but then when I sat in the front passenger seat to go out later with DH, I felt like I was sitting in the windshield. I never before considered an SUV, but now I can see why they are so popular.
Do the convertible seats take up less space behind the front seat than the infant seats?

While they are rearfacing they take up lots of space. When you are finally able to turn the convertible seat you'll have more room again.

Did you put it in the middle? We put our infant seat there. It wasn't as bad that way.

We didn't, because the distance between the LATCH hooks was longer than the manufacturer recommended. I also think if it were in the middle, it would be blocking both of the front seats. At least when I am driving alone, I can still keep the seat back.

That's just the carseat!! Just wait til you put the stroller in the trunk, after some grunting, then realize there is no room for the groceries. We are praying my car survives the winter then we can get a bigger one next year.
