Now we all love babies..
But do you ever worry about parenting during the later stages of life like adolescence? It scares the heck out of me. Now I was never a terror but I'm sure I was a handful when I was a teenager.
I know I'm far ahead of myself here but already I'm thinking of parenting when my future daughter is a teenager!!! I'm thinking about her first boyfriend, and all the worry I'll have with her being safe, teenage pregnancy, etc. I'm scared actually. Please tell me I'm not alone here!

Yup, before DH and I started TTC, I used to say that I wanted to go from baby to young child and then skip ahead to responsible adult. Teenagers scare the heck out of me! I think I was a really good kid, but still, when I think of some of the stuff I did....

I think about this often. It scares me, especially when I see the kids nowadays. I feel like we were so much more innocent than kids are now.

Um yes, all the time. I look at my kids now and want to cry when I think of them as being teenagers.

I am honestly not that scared because I'm planning on being an active parent through all the stages of my child's life. You can't just spoil them when they're little because you think it's unrelated to what they'll later do in life. Giving a child everything and not having consequences when there is negative behavior starts a bad cycle which could later turn into teen rebellion/drug use/teen pregnancy etc. It seems silly to connect the two but if my one year old hits now and I don't correct them (well in a little over a year from now) that starts them into thinking they can do whatever they want - and you know what? Then they will!

I think it is a normal worry for most people.
Fortunetly I have been teaching 7th grade for 9 years and I think I have a grip on adolescence and all that comes with it. I have seen great parenting styles and horrific ones, I am actually excited to have a little pre teen LOL

Yes definitely! Just after we found out Nugget is a boy, I said to him "Well thank goodness I only have to worry about one pen!s instead of all of them"

You're not alone! I think about this all the time! I was a horrible teenager....wasn't what I'd call bad but had a HORRIBLE attitude!!! I know my mother put a curse on me that my teenage daughter will give me he!! like I did to her!

Lol this is exactly my fear. I was never that bad but I had a horrible attitude. My mom always said I hope you have a child just like yourself back then. Now what if I do and worse!

I worry about this but at the same time, you grow with them. It's not like you get a snotty teen from the beginning. Who knows, maybe you'll like your teen?

thankfully i have a ds and another on the way bc i wouldnt be able to handle a girl if she was half of what i was growing up... if these boys are anything like their daddy im free sailing into adulthood !

I honestly am so not there yet! I'm in denial that this precious little being that brings me so much joy with every little kick is going to spring into a terrorizing toddler running around like crazy and then into a snotty teenager who's going to slam doors in my face! I agree that we'll just grow with our children and be prepared to tackle those little wonders as they come along for now I'm preparing a time stopping plan after the first year
