I love seeing pictures of all the babies...
...and I try to respond to every one that I see.
With that said, I HAVE to put this out here since it really gets to me and I know I'm not the olny one.
When people who barely ever post pictures will get a handfull of responses. Then, people who post pics every single week (or thereabout) get 3 pages of responses. I know people don't post them just to hear how cute their child is and there really are people who enjoy seeing the babies grow (like myself), however, it's things like this that make people say that his site is "clicky."
It's really becomming difficult to believe that it's all about the timing of the post, the subject and blah blah blah... And, I have a feeling this has a lot to do with why a lot of people have cut back on their posting.

A lot of these women know each other personally, have gone to get togethers or just chat offline.
Also - sometimes you feel like you just KNOW a kid because you remember when the mom was trying to get pregnant - or her first hysterical "what am I going to do!" post. You feel almost a vested interest in those babies. You feel like you KNOW them.
Me? I don't really make much of an impact and I don't post often and when I do I don't get a million responses - but it doesn't bother me in the slightest becuase I recognize the reasons that some people get more posts/views/comments.
It's ALL good.

I will agree that some people do not get any kind of replies on their post yet you can see that a large number of people read the post.
I know people justify by saying "I just want to look and don't have time to reply", yet again I have also noticed that some people will ALWAYS get replies on their post. I guess people have more time for certain posts than others. 
I have met several moms here who told me the same thing and post less and less. They feel like they are being put down when they post, nobody really replies to their post about their DC, pics, Qs.
Tha'ts sad! This site is really for everyone.

I hear what you're saying, but I don't think its odd or unfair of the more active posters to get a larger response. I'm more likely to look at/respond to the posts of people I "know" - babies who I've watched grow up (online), moms I've met or shared pregnancy with, etc, rather than just another cute face on the screen.
And while I agree that there are "cliques", I don't think someone who doesn't post a lot should expect the same response as someone who does. If they're not posting, they're not commenting on other people's picture threads either...it goes both ways.

I agree in a lot of respects....
I havent really put a lot of thought into it though...I do know that I feel bad when someone has posted a question and noone has answered...I try and make sure that I especially post something when it comes to pictures..especially considering that I LOVE looking at them and I want Mommy to know that...
But I dont really want to say that "clicky" is the right way to put it...you just get closer to certain members..especially as you become friends outside of LIF

I will admit that there are times I don't reply to a lot of posts and then there are times when I post a picture and get a great response and it makes me want to comment on others more.
I do think the millions of views an not many posts thing is annoying, especially for pics because that just proves that you were curious enough to look but too lazy to say anything.

Thanks... they aren't the chubby baby mush face cute like most of the gorgeous little schmoos on here (EJ to name one!  ) so i keep the pics to a minimum... but I love hearing about everyone's adventures in parenting!

I agree.
There are times I'm not posting quite as much as usual so if I post something about Alex, or a picture, and only get a handful of responses, I don't take it personally at all.

I don't see why it really matters who gets more responses....
I post pictures because I think my baby is cute. If other people want to respond, great, but if not, it doesn't really bother me.
There are times I post and I get pages of responses, and other times not so much. I think it does have a lot to do with timing. But no matter what, I still think my kid is cute, and will always think that, no matter how many people agree with me!

ITA, but its not just pictures. I find some will post a question and get not many answers but someone else can ask the same question around the same time and get tons of replys. So the excuse of timing right there is false.. b/c i have seen this happen.
I only been on here since Sept '07, and find i dont get many responses when i post a subject, but what can you do. Those who have responded helped me in many ways, So Thank you for those who have.

Same here!!!!!!!!!  The amount of responses should not make anyone feel that DC is less cute than the members who get 3 pages of responses! I know my DS is adorable

well, I typically don't get a lot of reponses from my pictures or any other type of post I do. Recently I came to realization that especially when I'm running short of time I pay attention more to posts of people I am familiar with and ones that I've met before. So I'm guilty of it. However, if I am sitting down with time I DO respond to all relevant posts, especially picture ones. Usually during the weekdays I can pop on for a few minutes at a time because I am at work, like now, so I can't possibly respond to a lot. Usually it is weekends when I have them time but unfortunately not a lot of people post on weekends. Oh well.

I try to respond to all the photos. Because I know what's it like. Sometimes it seems once a baby becomes toddler size the comments are lacking. Forget it if they are over 5 or 6.
