Now what do I do (not happy with my ped's advice)
I'll try to keep this story short. When DD was around 2mths old she had a few bloody stools, no other symptoms. My ped thought she had a dairy allergy so I cut dairy out of my diet for awhile (she was EBF) and had me follow up with a GI specialist to conclude the same diagnosis. Anyway after I had cut out dairy she continued with an occasional bloody poop then they stopped all together. I slowly reintroduced dairy into my diet and she tolerated it well. When she was 8mths old I started giving her Yo Baby yogurt and she broked out into a rash so my ped said no dairy until she was a year. Now she's 1 and I tried dairy again and again she developed a rash/hives. So I call up her ped and he tells me to follow up with the GI specialist again. Now 1) she has absolutely no GI issues 2)I didn't really care for this GI doctor to begin with. I found that she kind of blew us off and didn't really pay attention to what I had to say. What I really want to do is follow up with an allergist. Should I call this GI practice which I don't really care for and probably lose my marbles on the phone (after her initial appt the GI doc wanted me to make a follow up phone call and after 2wks of phone tag I got nowhere and gave up) or should I just go out on my own?
ETA: I don't even know if I have this doctors # anymore!

I say go for second opinion and def go to an allergist and skip the GI all together for now.
If it's an allergy, the allergist will be able to pinpoint for you. If it's not an allergy, then go to the GI for something else, and def a different one.
You already went to the GI the 1st time, so i would tell that to the allergist if they tell you it's a GI issue.
HOpe you get some answers soon!
Maybe she's allergic to SOY? Does Yo baby have soy ingredients in it?

Why not try a pediatric allergist? They will test for a milk allergy (there is a blood test and a prick test - you should do both). Many times if the allergy is not severe it will not show up on the prick test, but will show up on the blood test so it's good to have both...
Follow your gutt, if you didn't like this GI doctor ...don't go back!!

Call the ped and ask for a referral to a alergist. If they say no, they want you to go to a GI, then go to a different GI Dr. I Loved Dy Moy at LIJ, she was great and really helped with all fo my son's issues. I believe the GI Dr can handle the issue with allergies, they would test my son's stool and sent him for blood work.

I agree with the pps. I would call an allergist. If you need a referral, than call the ped & ask for one.
One of the most important things I've learned is go with your gut.

Ok so I spoke to her ped and he said to follow up with the GI and they will refer her to an allergist if need be. So I called there and thankfully that witch that saw her last time is gone, yay! So we'll see what this other doc says and if I'm not happy I'm sure I'll be posting here for allergist referrals, thanks ladies

Re: Now what do I do (not happy with my ped's advice)
I would just make an appointment with a pediatric allergist. Why would the pediatrician suggest the GI specialist when it's an allergy? Odd.
I would insist on a skin test and a RAST (blood) test before doing another trial with dairy. They will probably have you avoid dairy until two years old and then retest before you do another trial with food.
I'm so sorry your little one has to go through this. My DS2 has a dairy allergy and it is challenging to keep the dairy out of their diet, but there are lots of good options out there.

I would probably go for a 2nd opinion with a ped GI, but I would also definetely go to an allergist.

Re: Now what do I do (not happy with my ped's advice)
I would go to the GI. Is it a protein allergy? That's what we deal with...milk/soy protein allergy. As I understand it, its not a true "allergy" more of something along the lines of their intestines not being able to break down the proteins
